Default Power steering problem

HI,
I'm new on this site. I was wondering if any of you can help with my power-steering issue. I have no power steering (o.k. power assist). There are no leaks and hoses appear ok even though there might be an internal clog. I verified the pump is turing clockwise. I also jacked up the car (taking the load off the front tires) and turned the wheel to the far right and left. NO change. With the cap off the reservoir and the car runing there doen't appear to be any flow. I belive it's the pump but I'm nervous it's the rack. The rack and pump are original with 320,000+ miles. I figued I would take off the return line to see if it pumps out when I get a chance. ANY advice would be helpful. Thanks for you time and efforts..

It's a 1985 Mustang GT, 5.0, 4BLL, 5-speed.

Kinda seems primitave to do it that way but it would work. Have an assistant turn the car on and turn it off AS SOON AS FLOW IS VERIFIED while you watch the hose. With limited tools this would be a good way. Be forwarned! powers steering pressure is 50-100+psi so have some rags handy! Your rack would be the culprit if you do have flow.

Obv. thogh if theres no flow change the pump. Let us know

Hey Chris?,
Thanks for your advice. This moring I disconnect the return line and there was NO flow. Then I disconned the pressure line hoping for a powersteering shower but still NO flow. I removed the pump and ordered one with reservoir through Autozone ($57.00). With the pump in my hand I rotated the pully and there is no resistance or cycling. WHen the pump arrives in 2 days, I will assemble and fire it up. Thanks again for your advice.....
Scott
p.s. I have a starter relay over-ride switch so I can cycle the motor without actually starting it. This way if the pump did work only a little would come out. It's amazing how ofter I use it.
