hi i have a 2002 Mustang GT and noticed the guy before me put in flowmaster exhaust but didnt put in any headers. a$$hole. what kind of headers would work best for my car? ive been looking at the BBk shorty headers. what do you all think. im looking for maximum performance and sound. i have steeda underdrive pulleys, k&n FIPK air intake, i plan on getting new cylinder heads and cam shafts with the install of the headers. I appretiate any and all input. thanks.
In my opinion the BBK shorty headers are horrible. The reason is the bolts are incredibly hard to get to without lifting the motor out or having a tubular k member.
If you decide to go with the shortys I would also get a tubular k member as well.
the reason he did not put any headers on it is because the shorties are no better then stock manifolds. go long tube or leave it alone. and if your ging to do cams you definitely want long tubes to get the most out of them.

Go LT's or don't do headers. Shorties are barely noticeable in terms of performance over stock manifolds. They sound quite a bit better though. The work involved with installing headers is ridiculous. If you decide to get headers, just get LT's unless your state is really emissions tight. I live in CA, and the headers were free, which is why I installed them.
White00gtvert is completely right though, these headers were such a pain in the ass to install. I don't think I'd do it again. The bolt position and the way the header tubes are bent is the most retarded thing I've ever seen. This install took me 4 days because I found myself being able to turn each bolt by wrench at only 1/10- 1/8 turn at a time. Miserable 4 days, but the sound is nice. I already had an x-pipe, but now it sound like this:
I have to agree with everybody else. The are 2 big of a pain to put on to get shorties. Go with long tubes and be prepared to spend the weekend doing them lol

I would do long tubes or none at all, the shorties don't gain enough to make them worth the cost or pain in the ass of the install.

That hunk of junk? Yeah, well I've made a few special modifications to that yellow 99 Gt, it makes the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and eats turbo japs and poops chevy's
I think someone already briefly touched on this, but if you're looking at lowering your car, be careful with long tube headers.... they may catch on driveways, speed bumps, etc.
I'm far from an expert on this, just going by what I've heard. I'm not going the long tube route in the short term because of this. (Not that there isn't a lack of mods I could spend my money on in the mean time, though )
