I have never had a CAI but have heard from friends that they are noisey, especially when you step on it. I would much rather be listening to the sound of my exhaust than my engine sucking air. Are there any CAI's which are quieter than others. I am not thinking of a tune just yet.

I have a steeda cold air kit for my 07 GT and it isn't loud at all until you really step on it. I personally think it sounds great, it make the engine sound louder and meaner at WOT but otherwise it doesn't really make a difference. But you will probably want to get a tune to go with your cold air kit or it may not work properly.

The only intake noise that ever drowned out my exhaust at WOT was a KB blower. You'll hear the CAI whistle a little bit at lower RPM's but it's not going to overpower the exhaust sound.

The cai isn't very loud and nowhere near the sound of the exhaust. You can hear it a little at idle and low rpm,s but unless you have a very quiet exhaust you won't hear anything at WOT.

Yeah i was gonna say my C&L cai is loud but no where near can it drown out the exhaust. But the KB can come close haha.

Loud exhaust + CAI or RAI = awesome. You cant really hear them much at low rpm, you can hear the suction, but that's about it, especially if your exhaust is aftermarket. At high rpm though, the low throaty rumble of the exhaust plus the high pitch scream of the intake sounds so awesome. I don't really get why you'd want a "quiet" CAI. I doubt they even make them. The only thing I can think of would be modifying your stock airbox, but it kinda defeats the purpose...

Don't worry about the CAI noise overtaking your exhaust sound because it won't. A CAI will actually tone up your exhaust note in turn making it sound more aggressive. Get a o/r mid pipe if your worried
