Default 2004 mustang GT basic Mod help

i have a 2004 GT and im looking for some guidance on some basic upgrades to do to it. Im looking for some that are kinda inexpensive because im in the army and dont make a lot of money. I really wanted to put a KB twin screw on it but its to expensive for me lol.

Gears, tuner, exhaust, udp's, subframes... Start with the gears and a tuner, the gears will make a huge difference and the tuner helps as well as allowing to adjust for the gears. If you're on a budget start with the bolt-ons and go from there, you can get pretty fast with just the bolt-ons, and you'll have a platform that will be blower ready when you can afford it. Subframes should be done early on, they help a lot in mustangs and really tie the car together.

Gears is the best bang for the buck along with a tune, but i always felt the very first mod should be a nice exhaust system. Look into Mac or Pypes exhaust, not too expensive and sounds good.

just starting out i would do the gears first bc that gona be the best bang for the buck then full exhaust and then cai+tune then so on with the bolt on's also look into suspension bc you can always make power but you need it to hook also

If a KB is the future, I would go with 3.73's and SCT Tuner (preferred but Diablo is fine too) and a o/r mid pipe and different mufflers. Aftermarket Pulleys, TB and Plenum will be removed when the KB sits in your car. A drop in K&N filter(with silencer removed) will give a little gain in power and it's really cheap in price

Thanks for your service man.

FRPP or Motiv gears only, none of the eBay sets unless they specifiy that they are those brands.

I take a different approach to mods. Do the gears first, best bang for your buck by far, get a chip that will adjust your speedo accordingly. I like the exhaust next, a Mustang just isn't a Mustang unless it snorts and growls. CAI, throttle body and upper plenum next. The TB and plenum will give you neck snapping throttle response. Under drive pulleys are a good mod too. Just make sure you get the true replacement ones and not the piggybacked sets, Steeda makes a great set. Subframe connectors will stiffen the chassis up, especially on a convertible. Once you're done with airflow mods, then get a tune. If you get a tune before you do all these, then you'll not get the full benefit of all the mods working together.

i say do suspension first. build a good platform for the long run. at the very least..... do an intake, gears and full length subframe connectors. you spend less than a grand there and your car will feel completly different

hey man, listen to these guys. everything they have recommended is on point. another thing to invest in that will make driving even more fun is a short throw shifter. they're under 200 bucks and well worth it. it also only takes about .5 man hours

throttle body and plenums are wounderfull. your not gonna get as much power as you would with a blower. if your planning on getting a KB in the future i belive you have to use there TB's that come with there kit unless you go with a centrifigul blower. 04KBGT would know more about that then me. id suggest gettinng tuner/gears/exhaust and maybe a short throw shifter/clutch maybe go full exhaust with longtubes. id hold off on the tb/plenum also cai depending on what comes with KB's kit plan for the future man and happy modding

edit: maybe some eibach springs. the sportline drops the car 2"s and gives her a great ride and an agressive look and better handling. your choice

just so you know, when i had my gt motor still in the car. i had all steeda- x-pipe, cat back, intake, 3.73 gears, trottle body spacer, plenum, under drive pullies, and better injectors and a custom tune and only dynoed 260ish to the wheels. i mean, dont get me wrong- it was a whole different car and i loved it. but dont expect much. all those motor mods dont build power individualy. they work together and compliment one another.
but it will be a different animal for sure.

That's a good point that we all assumed was understood. You're not going to top 280rwhp with just bolt-ons. To crack over 300 you'll have to get cams at least. I had most of the common bolt-ons short of underdrive pulleys on mine and it made 265rwhp and 320 ft-lbs.

you could save for a blower. but if your wanting to mod it for cheap. its hard to do. these things are money pits. i have spent 20,000 on mine in the last 6 months. thank god for tax free money in iraq lol.
