For the auto that vibrates, if the tires are good, look over the motor and tranny mounts, and make sure the driveshaft is in phase, if not it'll vibrate like you describe.

hi Joe, thanks for the offer to advise on tranny issues.

my 03 gt 5 speed makes noise. mostly a rattle sound comes on above 3500 or so under load. changed oil to royal purples synchromax recently to alieve a problem with hard shifts , especially when cold. though now the tranny makes more noise and this rattle comes on like i said. but the shifts are pretty smooth. cure one ill create another i guess.

its got an aftermarket shifter and the rear end is a 3.90.

got any ideas?

thanks

Thanks for answering our trans questions..

Mine is about my 99GT’s 5 speed… I have a heavily mod’d GT with a Kenne Bell 2.1 @10psi. (4-inch JLT intake, 75mmTB, Full exhaust… etc) she made 427rwhp and that was before a 90mm mass and tune. The car has 4.10’s in the rear (TOO LOW) end and the trans has got a B&M ripper. At high RPM in 4th near the shift point about 110mph and 5th 110mph - whatever shes good for, sounds almost like its grinding and humming/winning noise. Do you think it’s the syncro’s? The cars got 66,000 on it also. I also wanted to ask if it will be worth fixing or getting a TKO or something like that because next winter I’m dropping in a MMR 900 block and uping boost to 14psi and Stage-3 Crane blower cams. I’m looking for about 550rwhp. As long as I don’t strap slicks on it and take it to the track… will the stock trans take that power?

Thanks,
John
