Your problem is most likely the switch.
I had a similar problem on my 94 mustang.
Ford replaced the switch twice and the third one stopped working.
The switch was made in Mexico. They stamped the contactor rivets too hard and eventually the contactor broke.
I replaced all the rivets myself with a small brass screws.
14 years later it is still working.
