yeah man i used to go all the time untill i blew my motor in my 00 gt i live in port saint lucie it only takes probably a half an hour to 40 minutes for me
Watched guys run for about 15 minutes and then my hubby stuck a $20 down my shirt and said go for it...
Don't laugh. I've never even done a burnout before...
2003 GT with MAC exhaust and CAI. Third and final run:
RT .245
60 2.407
1/8 10.2 at 70.75
1/4 15.7 at 90.49
I'm thinking some air pressure adjustments, higher octane gas and "experience" and I'll do some justice to my car. My goal is a 14 and/or 100mph at the line.
But I'm definitely hooked. Yesterday I ran an SCCA autocross event and took home the novice trophy - of course, there were only two novices there. LOL. My times improved from 91 to 78 to 71 seconds. But autocross is definitely hard on a street car, I think I'll stick to the drag strips.

Octane won't do anything without a chip or programmer . ..
Congrats on your trophies!
I'm sure you'll get a bunch more!

i agree that the drivers skill is of upmost importance, Ive seen many upsets due to driver skill, On a side note, I get compliments on how i shift 2nd to 3rd, but my 1st to 2nd kinda lags just a tad, wtf to do........ i guess get over it and shift it?

Get a short throw shifter, set your shift stops, then go at it

My Boyfriend has a 89 LX with Nitros, gears, MSD, and he's ran at the track quite a few times, and has trouble hooking. His car just seems to like the street alot better. Even his 1/4 mile time is better on the street (G-meter). So I think it depends on your car.

hey guys , im new to the site and like it a lot , a have a 1996 mustang gt black on black w/o leather it currently has 77000 miles on it . i have a SLP loudmouth catback exhast , mac underdrive pullys , cold air intake , mac off road x pipe , a boast chip (good for 20 HP at the fly) and an trickflow intake manifoild. the car is a 5sp and pullys pretty good i kept up woth a 5.0 cobra supercharged but sadly got beat by and subaru STI i was wondering if any one had and slight idea as to what my 1/4 mile time might be im just loooking for an estamate, im thinking 13.9 to 13.6????? thanks for the help and ill hit you guys up with some pics later....
pitchblackstang, trying to judge how fast ur car is by what you have raced is not really accurate. for example, i have a 98 gt 5speed, similar to urs, yet ive raced and beaten an 05 evo viii more than once. at the track (1/8mile, anyways) the slowest ive seen them run while being stock is 8.8 sec., and the fastest i can get my car is 9.2 sec., so its not really save to assume that just cuz you beat them on the street u are equally as fast. likewise, ive raced a firebird ws6 (which had a few bolt ons along with exhaust) and i was a head of him til i threw my car in 4th gear, and thats when he started catching up and passed be by about a fender. on the track (1/4 mile) ive seen them go into the mid to high 13 seconds. fastest my car will go is 14.5. just an idea.

with a turbo motor, unless the car is in the boost when it launches, it will behave like the 4 cylinder it is.
the car is one thing, the driver is something completely different. EVEN IF you take it to the track, the performance isn't necessarily indicative of the car -it STILL depends on the driver. A driver swap can take an ENTIRE second off a 1/4 mile time, simply because one doesn't know what he's doing.
The "key" would be to pay a professional to drive it, or become one yourself.

kscoyote, i agree. the driver makes a lot of difference. all i was trying to say was that just because you race a car on the street doesnt automatically mean that you have the same hp as they do. i found this out the hard way, trying to figure out how fast my car would run and what number it will pull on the dyno. as it turns out, i was way off on both numbers
