Default Rim and tire sizes.

Ok, what size tires are needed for 18x9.5 rims? Also, whats the widest tire you could put on it without cuasing problems (if you can)?

I think you can squeeze 265's on there with a little bulge around the edges, 275 MIGHT fit but you'd be hurting yourself more than helping.

Gah, my fault, I was like half awake when I wrote the first question and I left alot out.

Anyways, what I meant was, when I get my Y2K Motorsport R's 18x9.5. What size tires will I need so that there is no speedometer problems? Right now I have 245/45Z/17 (I think) from the factory. Anyways what size specifically will I need.

I think you're gonna have to bite the bullet and get a recalibrated chip or gear. In order to keep the sidewall heigth the same as what you have now, you'd have to go to like a 295/30/18. I'm not even sure who makes a tire of that profile and width. Not to mention, if you were to get a flat tire, your pretty rim would be all scratched up and beat to hell.

Static,

I will send you a link tonight when I get home. I found a website that offers numerous stores that offer tires (everywhere domestic wise). I found Nittos 555 Ext ZRs all for $800.00 (New). I went with 18's. 18x9 and 18x10.5, I finally made up my mind to go with 255/35 and 295/35. They end up being just MM difference from the stock 245/45s and will not affect your speedo much at all if not any.

Someone correct me if I am wrong? But the width will not affect the tire rotation which will in-turn not affect the speedo, but the tread height itself, 45's going to 18 inch 35's isn't that big of a difference. This is the number you have to take into consideration.

the 45 vs. 35 is the profile of the tire. It's a direct percentage of the tread width. so a 295/45 will have a sidewall heigth that is 45% of 295mm, so you get a sidewall that is 132.75 mm high. A 295/35 will have a sidewall hiegth of 103.25mm tall. Run those numbers through this calculator http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/608.shtml and that'll give you a good idea of how much it'll affect your speedometer calibration.

I don't know if you missed this or maybe I did. I was presenting it as OEM's with 45/17's going to 35/18's

Adding an inch for the 18's from the OEM 17's but also losing MM on the tire itself. Doesn't calculate much at all, also pending tire pressure you run. Could be the same size going from 17's to 18's, or should I say, could be really really close.

you can work it out to be really close, but they're gonna be some REALLY small sidewalls.

Apparently, I can use 275/35/18's in the front and 315/35/18's in the back. Another person with the exact same rims is using that setup and said theres no problem with them.

315/30/18 on the rear will get you even closer.
