Ok Just Wondering
Why Where People Sad When They Found Out GM Wasnt Makin A Z28 Camaro?
I Mean In The Past Years The Z28 Was Always Below The SS?
So Why Are They Sayin, That They Are Sad That A Z28 500 Something HorsePower Camaro Isnt Coming Out?
Dont They Have The SS NOW? Which Supposedly Is The Most Powerfull Camaro After The Z28?
i believe the z28 was priced with the mustang gt. and the SS super sport was the best. so it was chevys poor mans sport car. the RS rally sport got the 3.5l v6 ... correct me if im wrong

People are stupid and want the Z28 to be above the SS even though the SS is the king of Camaro's. However GM is going backwards and wants to make the Z28 above the SS.
my life long conclusion of GM.... Don't try to make sense of the senseless.
There so excited about trying to take the market and out perform the mustang that they forgot it goes POS 6, RS, and then SS. lol
See even us Ford guys know how it goes!

The retro look camaro is trying to revive the retro packages, in a sense. The trim levels of the 90's and the 60's are two totally different beasts, not to mention that in most 1960's cars (and mostly throughout the camaros life) the SS trim for a while was just that: Trim. The Z28 could have been had with a high revving 302 cubic inch v8, and the RS had small block V8 options, as it wasn't the base model.
Also, There's almost no difference between a late model Camaro Z28 and SS other than some uglier body panels and maybe some SLP junk on the LT-1 models. All v8 trim F-bodies came with the same stuff.
Forgive me for my rudeness, or slight model mistakes, because I'm not much of an Early F-body fan. As far as I'm concerned they're really not much more than a pieced together pile of junk Nova with a facelift to compete with another pieced together pile of junk from Ford. Not that I don't respect the fact that if they didn't exist, I wouldn't have my piece of junk ... but there's so many better cars from the 60's.

also, I don't think we as mustang owners have much of a right to call the v6 camaro's a "POS" The 3.8L series II was by many accounts faster than the NPI GT, the 3.6L 300hp DI will probably put a whooping on many old GTs, and lets all not forget the 80's Trans Am GTA with the 3.8L Turbo straight out of the GNX, which would probably hand it to a stock s197 GT to this day.
GM was making some awesome 6 cylinder (and four cylinder) power plants in the 80s and 90s as long as you ignore the unbalanced (but still powerful) 4.3L and junk 2.8L (3.1/3.4 non DOHC) engines.
...Although I think we do have a right to make fun of the ugly interior, the tasteless body mods, and the butt-ugly chrysler looking 98-02 front clip.

CAMARO= Chevrolet Actually Made Another Rip Off. That said, the new one looks to be a helluva beast, and I gotta admit I like the look.

That hunk of junk? Yeah, well I've made a few special modifications to that yellow 99 Gt, it makes the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and eats turbo japs and poops chevy's

I totally see what youre saying Dave Mustang. I should not have been so quick to just call it a POS. Granted im slightly confused by your possition on the 3800 series II motor. Even in the L67 Supercharged version it put out 240hp and a only 280ft.lbs and that was top of the line for Series II. And as I understand it those where in some heafty vehicles... Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Buick Park Avenue.... I dont see those whooping NPI GT's
You can get a V6 to make HP but TQ is the real/ underlying hero, as we know. That said those TTA are no joke tho.... 250HP and 340ft.lbs of TQ! I mean those numbers are crazy for a factory 6 or a factory anything from the 80's. I thank you for reminding me of it. I dont really remmber it given I wasn't born until ' 91. When did they stop those TTA's?

The 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP has 3.8 Series2,supercharged has 260HP/280ft.lb torque and hauls ass.I had one and traded it for an 05 Honda EXL V6 Coupe in 2007.
What doug is saying is compare the Series II 3800 to the NPI GT in power output and on the street it is a driver's race. lol The NPI GT's are rather lackluster in the power department. And, yes the supercharged 3800 series in any of the above cars will edge out a NPI GT.

hmmm i see. well ive spent all this time learn ever single thing about mustangs that some times im not so sharp in the gm department. I guess I learned something. Thanks guys
Good news! The Mustang with $1200 track pack option takes the camaro in the figure eight and G-pad w/ a .95G . I bet with the dealer installed supercharger (420HP) the SS will have some healthy competition from the GT.
