Default 1997 mustang air con,no gas pressure.

hi all has any one had a good result trying to mend there air con,i bought two charging kits,run the cars engine.i placed the kit with gage on to the air con top up point,the gage whent up to 65 psi and the compessor kicked in. this whent on for about 10 mins.the air in the car started to get cold, but the next day no cold air,no gas left in the system. cheers alan.

You obviously have to find the leaks. There are several methods to do this. There are gas "sniffers" that detect the freon escaping. There are dyes that show up as it escapes. You can pressurize the system with something like nitrogen and use soap bubbles to pinpoint leaks. If you don't have any capabilities like that you may have to take it to an air conditioning shop. If the system has not had pressure for a while, I would replace the drier after the system leaks are fixed and before it is charged.

dont have any of that stuff, i gess it aint worked for over a year now?whats a dryer,is it expensive.even though the car is clean, and only done 50k,the car maybe to old to be worth a visit to the shop.may have to live with it, thanks alan.
