SLP Loudmouth 1 on a 04' 4.6 GT sounds a little quiet? Anyone feel the same/know why?
Hey guys i just installed the SLP LM1 on my 4.6 GT (2004) and they sound great, but i have to say i thought they would sound a lot more 'noisy' than they do now. In neutra/idle you can hardly hear a murmur. im not sure if it needs to be 'Broken in' since i just installed it yesterday or if perhaps erroneously i was shipped the LM2. FYI I have the same mid pipes just have the catback system installed right now. Was wondering if maybe one of you had a similar experience or have some input on this. Let me know. Thanks in advance.
cheers.
When I had just flows the car was quiet when I put on the o/r prochamber it was a world of difference. If you want loud all you need is an SLP catted X. you can take the cats out if you want it is a badass pipe

I have the SLP loudmouth 1 on my 07 GT and the rest of the system is stock. Its loud but not over bearing, going to an o/r mid pipe is just too much IMO and an x pipe is WAY too rasy, h pipe keeps the deep growl.
I agree with the catted X pipe. IMO long tube headers dont make too much of a sound difference and not whole lot of hp for the cost and work, but its a great mod to have for better flow. The x pipe, catted or not will add a nice, mean sound to the catback. Although I know the SLP LMI is usually somewhat loud with just the stock h pipe.

i have heard stories of people getting brand new exhausts that they weren't satisfied with and then a couple weeks later falling in love with it so you might have to "break it in". on the other hand an off road mid pipe will probably give you the loudest exhaust you could ever want.

Next summer looking to go with:
Bilstien shocks + struts, Lowering springs (brand still TBD (any suggestions?)), MM CC plates, front + rear sway bars, subframes, and upper and lower control arms.
Time to make the pony ride some rails
There is a certain break in period, usually a week or two. If your using the factory H mid-pipe it will be a little tame at idle. If a louder more aggressive sound is what you're looking for you need to change it out.
I have the LM1 setup with no cats and the SLP LTs and at idle and low rpms it's not much louder than any other o/r setup, but it SCREAMS in the higher rpm range. You might want to get the SLP midpipe to complement the LM1, like others have already mentioned. Either way, you can't go wrong with SLP IMO

Hey just a quick question. Im not sure if this is just me but does it take a while for the LM1's to start 'singing' i.e i noticed on a cold start just popping down to the nearby 7-11 it sounds tame but when i went on a trip out of state thats when they really sounded great. Does this mean the car /engine need to warm up a little for the mufflers to 'get going' ?
