Default Does this make me shallow??

I need(want) a new head unit for my '96GT vert. with the Mach 460, besides money the only thing keeping me from doing so is Im not sure what H.U to buy. Also what do I do w. the CD player, if i pull it out I have an empty space, if I leave it it looks dumb. Im looking for a H.U that has red back lights and thatll match with my interior(black/white dash, white top, red exterior)

You do know that if you replace the HU in a Mach 460 system you will have to rewire the speakers right? The Mach 460 audio system works using amplifiers, that are not compatible with a non-stock HU.

As far as the color combos, look at the Sony Xplod series. They are typically black with red lighting.

Not necessarily, theres an adapter($25) that you attach to the harness and only have to replace the h.u. However Im also doing mids and maybe tweeters so Ill definetly rewire the entire system. I refuse to put xplod anything in my cars anymore, I had an entire sony xplod layout in my Dodge stratus and it sounded like crap.

I'm not talking about the wiring that goes to the back of the head unit. I'm talking about the wireing that goes from the head unit to the speakers.

In the mach 460 and 1000 audio systems, there are pre-amplifiers that amplify the signal coming from the stock HU before sending it to the speakers. This won't work with an aftermarket HU, because the output watts are much higher than the stock HU.

Its a good thing I saw this. I have a 1000 in my car and the changer is junk, I was just about to buy an aftermarket cd player too. I didn't know nothing would work, just figured the 4 amps and woofers wouldn't work. I am guessing a person would have to rewire the entire system and install aftermarket speakers if they decided to install an aftermarket HU.

Yeh I know that 460 Hu only puts out 2 volts or somethig like that then the amps pick it up. Id keep the stock speaker except, nt brther blew out the pasenger door speker by turning everything he could all the way p so all the power bass and trable was goin to the door speaker. THats hat started this all. Now what do i do to fill the cd player gap??
