very very simple job. I just installed my MGW shifter and it didnt take all that long at all. I was done in easily an hour, taking my sweet time.

The instructions go step by step so it was very easy to do.

BTW, this was my favorite mod so far, the factory shifter is horrible

dude if i were you...i would definetly go with the MGW. The quality of their product is so superior to others, and I have never heard of a complaint from someone who has installed one. I know their are some people on here that aren't to fond of some of the other brands. Install is a breeze as well, plus if you have any trouble you could just come on here or search youtube

The swap is very straightforward and you'll gain confidence if you're not too hip on doing your own wrenching. Just take your time and read the instructions before hand. As stated, there are a lot of online video resources for the install as well.

Let us know what you do!

short throw are very easy. Remove the boot/center console cover. then remove the 4 screws surrounding the shifter should be a goldish color if i remember right. Then remove the 4 bolts holding the shifter in. After that push ur shifter all the way to the left withe one hand, then with ur free hand hit the hand on the shifter. This should break the silicone seal from the shifter to the trans. Then get a razor blade and scrap off ALL the left over silicone. Then lay a fresh bead, put the new shifter on, bolt down, and put everytihng back together. Make sure u dont drive the car right away, wait 10-15 mins to let the silicone fully dry.

While you have the top popped off the tranny may as well change out the fluid too. Adds 30 min to the job.

Umm, if we go that route, how to change the fluid? pump to take it out? is there a "drain plug" like the oil pan? Thanks

There is both a drain plug and fill plug, but it makes it MUCH easier to fill with the shifter out. the drain plug will be at the bottom of the transmission, pop it and let it drain out real good (on level ground). then reinstall plug. remove fill plug on the side of the transmisson. then pour new fluid down the shifter housing until fluid begins to flow out of the fill hole on side of the transmission. Then install new shifter.

Someone can correct me if i missed something

Also, i did some reading myself and found that it some people seen shifting improvements with PLAIN ATF oil, no synthetics. I put it in and it seemed to help a little bit in my car, but for the most part its the same. I wanna try synchromesh next.
