Cool 2000 Mustang GT 16lbs boost! what would be a safe number to bring it down to,

Hello everyone i bought a 2000 GT with 60 000km that has vortech v-2 supercarger with 16lbs of boost , i had to send charger out to callifornia to have seal replaced when i put it all back together i found out the motor was in need of some work , sent it to westside performance to get checked out . We soon found out that cylinder 7 had a chunk out of the piston so we are going to bore it .30 over but i am not sure amount of boost to put to the new motor i was thinking 10lbs can some one tell me there thoughts

Depends on what you are trying to do with the motor. If you are planning on rebuilding it with factory parts, then I would keep it at 8 psi. If you are going to put better then stock rods and pistons in there, then it's completely up to you in how much money you want to spend to go fast. Just remember after it's all put back together, you need to get the car re-tuned

With stock internals, no more than 6 - 8 lbs. of boost. I wouldn't recomend any more, or you'll be back at the shop again. That 16lbs. of boost, is what tore up the piston. To run that amount of boost, you'll need a strong bottom end with all forged internals, Mike. SCT Tuner.

Welcome to the site. 10 lbs should be fine but it really depends on your compression and if you have forged internals.

Well thank you guys for your help . i talked to the shop and what we are going to do is keep the crank and rods but putting a deep dish piston to bring the compression down. think ill try 8-10 not sure if i should let these guys do the tunnig or if i should go to some one who specailizes in mustangs ? are they that hard to have tuned do they need to be tuned on a dyno or can it be done from sit still or driven? ill stop bugging you guys as some one pointed out im in the wrom chat room . im new to this sorry guys Chris Boulard
