Default UPR, Bassani, or Mac Prochamber ???

Got a new 1999 GT. Sold my 96' sunday, bought the 99 monday ...couldn't pass up the deal...

Anyways I dont know what exahust to go for. I had the BBK o/r x with stock mufflers on my 1996. Def loud but not a clean sound, tons of ppl said it sounded mean, but was told a few times it sounded like a boat lol.

The stock exhaust on these "edge mustangs" is soooo quiet so I need a little more sound. Dont plan on new mufflers but I've narrowed the pipes to the UPR x, bassani x or mac pro chamber. I guess I'm looking for a loud but tuned and crisp sound. I think the bassani x does this well.

Any thoughts about any of this anyone ?

I love my o/r prochamber and flow 40s. I have gotten lots of compliments and I have never been mistaken for a mastercraft.lol it has a loud deep tone it sounds awesome. My buddy has SLP catted X and LM2 it is louder and sounds god but I will stick with my setup I love it and it is cheap like 400$ for everything

If you want a good sounding exhaust you'll probably have to swap out those mufflers. Most people tote the best exhaust on a 2v is MAC LT's, MAC prochamber, and MAC flowpaths. The only problem with the prochamber is that it isn't as loud as most other o/r pipes. It does have the best qualities of both the h pipe and the x pipe though.

I went with a o/r h pipe, and MAC catback. I couldn't be happier. I set off car alarms all day, and children explode into a bloody mist when I drive by.

I have had ALOT of catbacks and midpipes on my car, I know what I like. And so far, every chambered muffler besides MAC sounded like piss with an o/r x. Try and figure out what kind of sound you're looking for: oldschool rumble. nascar rasp. And look around on youtube to help you make your decision.

Good luck, the quest for perfect exhaust is a long one!

the bbk o/r x i had on my old car was the nascar rasp. I want something that makes some noise but not as loud or raspy as the o/r x. Your description of the prochamber sounds like it might be what im looking for.

I mentioned earlier Im looking for a more of the higher pitched rumble if you know what i mean. Not quite like a low low rumble. A tuned exhaust sound maybe ? I'll check some more vids.

Thanks for the input

Yeah, an o/r h will be very deep with a little higher pitch sound up top. Prochamber might be your way to go, I'd look into pairing it with a set of 40's or MAC flowpaths....(go mac, you won't look back )

MAC makes both h pipes and prochambers. An h pipe will be a low grunty rumble, sounds oldschool muscle-y. Prochamber will be a little higher pitched than the h pipe, but won't have the rasp of the x pipe. Supposedly it outperforms both too. Be warned though, the prochamber isn't a loud mid pipe, you should really get a set of mufflers to go with it.

I have the UPR off-road X with Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers. If you want loud, it's loud.

My buddy has the BBK X Pipe with Flowmaster 40's, and his is as loud as mine, but more raspy and nasty sounding. Not good nasty either, just nasty. Definately not a fan of the BBK off-road X.

Another guy here locally has the Pro-Chamber and Flowpaths, and his sounds nice, not super loud, but nice tone.

Bassani all the way! I got a catted Bassani x pipe with 40 flows and i was amazed at how mean sounding this combo is. Absolutely no rasp or high pitched popping noises at all. With the hi-flow cats and the 2 chambered 40 flows it has plently of back pressure and eliminates the traditional raspy sound that most x pipes produce. About 2 months ago i decided to gut the cats and i fell in love with my exhaust all over again! Much louder and still no rasp. Gutting the cats def made it more throater and incredibly meaner sounding. It also got rid of some of the drone, especially on the interstate. I get compliments on my exhaust almost everywhere i go. Bassani may be a bit more expensive but it will always be my first choice hands down!

Bassani all the way man. My car sounds amazing after I added my Bassani catted x to my Magnaflows. I get compliments all the time and people say my stang stands out from the rest around here cuz of my exhaust....and blower lol. But with any exhaust setup on these 2v's, its gonna sound good. Ive never heard a bad sounding 2v.
