A guy in my area is selling a ported and polished stock throttle body off any 01 GT. Just wondering if you guys think it is worth buying or not ?? Power difference ? He says its clean and you can barely tell he used it (of course he says that). I dont know that much about TB port and polishing outside of a couple snomobiles we did (worked nicely for them). What should I avoid or look for ?

make sure when the throttle body is closed that there are no gaps around the edges. did he get a larger throttle body blade for it? i can't imagine how porting a tb would work out.

Next summer looking to go with:
Bilstien shocks + struts, Lowering springs (brand still TBD (any suggestions?)), MM CC plates, front + rear sway bars, subframes, and upper and lower control arms.
Time to make the pony ride some rails
I've exchanged a few emails with him, heres what he has said:
"Yes it is still available. i dont remember the place i sent it to, it was a few years ago. It looks brand new even inside, no build up at all.I only had it on the car for apx 500 miles before i sold the car. It is stock ported and polished."
I asked about how it works, this was his response (notice his minor sales pitch):
"It is one of the cheapest biggest upgrades. gain about 10-15 hp and major throttle response. A stock car will only let you open 80% a ported and polished throttle body lets you use all 100%. $50 is what i think a cheap price, they usually go around $100 if not more and there is no need to pay for labor since it is a easy bolt on."
What do you guys think ?

IMO, if it doesnt have a bigger throttle blade in it, theni cant see where you would notice any gain whatsoever... my old 99 gt has one on it when i bought it, and it had a stock throttle body in the trunk. i swapped them out one day to see if i could tell a difference (dont ask was bored one afternoon), and i didnt notice anything not even throttle response. personally if you are going to get another throttle body i would suggest an aftermarket one. they will give you the most gain of any throttle body ...
thats what i was kind of thinking but wasn't sure. When I asked if he got a bigger blade he just said "no its ready to go".... I think i'll cross that bridge at a more appropriate time. The performance is still satisfactory (compared to my old gt) but the sound is lacking so I might up that before i dump money into other areas
