Be sure to remember that Ford Made the Bullitt Mustang THREE times.
ONCE in 2001, ONCE 2008 and ONCE in 2009 [now]
Besides that there's the 1968 ones [two]
Which were both modified V8's
One - Wrecked during the Movie and
The Other - purchased in 1972 and has been HIDDEN/MISSING ever since.

If it's truly a 2000, then it's not a real Bullitt.

Even easier, just ask him the serial number, and have him take a picture of the hologram under the hood on the driver's shock tower. If it's not there, there's one under the back seat also.

If that's too difficult, ask him for the interior code off of the door tag, it should read KW, if it doesn't, then it's not a real Bullitt. That's the end all, no B.S., can't fake it sign. If the vin on the door tag matches the vin on the car, and doesn't say KW, then it's not a Bullitt.

The VIN won't tell you if it's a real bullitt honestly, just if it's a 2001. There's no special character in the VIN for the Bullitt. Just on the door tag and the holograms. The Bullitts didn't fall in specific places for the sequence numbers, so there's no way to tell by the VIN.

1 Is country of origin (US)

F Restraint system (seat belts with air bags)

42 Line/series/body type (GT)
X Is engine (4.6 liter single overhead cam)
9th digit Is the check digit, must be a number 0-9, or the letter X

That model is all wrong to be a Bullitt........lol

It has a wing, wrong sail panels, wrong side skirts, wrong seats, fuel door is wrong, front bumper cover and grille are wrong also. The only thing I see that's right for a Bullitt is the side scoops.
