Question Your opinions on the Rides?

I am deploying to Kuwait/Iraq soon and will not see my baby for a year. I recently learned I would need to put in a new crank and pistons in my 99GT(has PI Heads, and Manley forged steel rods). I have no damn clue why the previous owner put in new rods and decided not to upgrade the pistons or crank??? At least this is what im being told, so really I dont know exactly what is inside now...

anyways when I come back ill have about 30k in the bank to spend...I was thinkin bout getting rid of the GT and getting a S197.

Should I stick with my original plan and throw a Kenne Bell on my 99 after I upgrade the internals? Or should I just get a newer 06 or 07 and invest in that?

Also What is the strength of the internals in the new S197's? Whats the max amount of power that can be put safely through them? I would like to put a Power Adder on that if I do get it. Thanks.

hmm s197s are nice, but i think 500-550 at the crank is the limit...and thats pushing it.id just stick with your 99 since its already ther and that gives you more money to spend on mods...hell with all the money you can do almost anything.
take care out there and thank you for your service

first off thanks for the service. if i were you i would stick with what you got. you can make your car an absolute animal for 30k. if i were you i would do all the engine work you are planning to do, get a t56 tranny, and beef up the suspension. your car would kill anything on the street.

Oh man, keep what ya got and turn her into a beast. Ya have the money to finish the internal work, put a bullitt proof 6spd tranny, big ass brakes, suspension and a Kenne Bell 2.6L and you will be good to go. You could easily make 500-550rwhp! And thanks for your service.
