The service engine light in my 2003 GT remains on when the key is in the ON position, but when I turn on the car it goes off. This suggest their may be a malfunction in the On Board Diagnostics System (OBD-II). Any way to reset or check for the problem? Car is running fine.

Any help would be appreciated!

Everything is normal. The cluster lights coming on when you turn the key on is supposed to happen. It's kinda like a gauge test. And then when you start the car the check engine light should go out. If it stays on with the car running, there is a problem.

Yeah they all come on just to let you no the light is working it will stay on if something is wrong!!

Taken from the owner's manual:

"Service engine soon:
The Service engine
soon indicator light
illuminates when the
ignition is first turned to the ON position to check
the bulb. Solid illumination after the engine is
started indicates the On Board Diagnostics System
(OBD-II) has detected a malfunction. Refer to On
board diagnostics (OBD-II) in the Maintenance
and Specifications chapter. If the light is blinking,
engine misfire is occurring which could damage your
catalytic converter. Drive in a moderate fashion
(avoid heavy acceleration and deceleration) and
have your vehicle serviced immediately.
SERVICE
ENGINE
SOON"
