Default How to identify a engine??

I bought a engine from a guy that said it was a from a 2001. I think he does not know what he was talking about. How can I tell what year the engine is and if I can put it in a 2004 Mustang GT??

I'm assuming it's a 4.6... does it have casting numbers or a bucktag anywhere? Do you maybe have a pic?

Welcome to AFM!

Yes, it is a 4.6. I will have to get the other information, but I do remember the casting starts with F7??.

Not a 2001 engine, that's an NPI engine, and by the casting numbers, it seems it came out of a '96
