Default Breaks too hard on 2003 Mustang GT

Hey Lads,
I just got a 2003 GT, I love everything in it but the breaking performance is killing me. The break peddle is too hard and the car takes a lot of distance to stop (to be honest my 95 integra was better on breaking, excuse me if my comparision is wrong). When I showed it to a local mechanic who is know to be a break expert says mustang can stop no better!!! is that true???? Please recommend on what to do.
Any kind of helpfull advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

well a mustang is a lot more car than an integra for starters.... just pop off the wheels and brake calipers and see how your pads look. if the stopping material is skinnier than the metal itself on the brake pad then replace them and bleed them out real good.... when i got my 04 last week it was the same way, i did a brake job and it's fine as frog hair

BTW be sure to open up the bleeder valve on the caliper when you go to push in the front pistons, and screw in the rear so you don't damage the ABS module.... opening the cap on the master cylinder IS NOT enough!!!!!!!!

+1, check that out and bleed the system. If it still feels the same, upgrade to the Cobra/Mach 1 front brake set up. Of course there is kits that get even better, just depends on how big is your wallet.
