That crank is internally balanced so you could pretty much put any type of damper on it but I'd for sure go with a stock Cobra crank pulley or an ATI piece is you plan on building BIG HP, this will ensure long life for your oil pump gear!

Well, you'll need new rod and main bearings to actually install it, but my question would be:

"Are you planning a complete rebuild, or do you just want to stick the crank in with the existing engine?"

If it's the former, I'd just buy it and hold on to it until you want to do a complete rebuild, since the crank isn't going to do a thing for you, and opening the bottom of the engine and changing it out has the potential to cause other problems. Parts that have been used together for thousands of miles tend to like being used together. If you put a new part in the mix with the used parts without having them reconditioned, chances that you'll have a bigger problem in the near future go up dramatically.

I agree with Bullit!! No real gains will be seen, if you go through the trouble of changing the crank upgrade the Pistons,Rods, Hardware.bearings etc..

no no no i need a rebuild a few weeks ago i talked to you "bullit" about replacing my motor or rebuilding it ive decided on rebuilding it with pi heads that cobra crank and forged manley rods with 03 cobra pistons. im not sure what i have to to to my cylinder walls yet but a hone job job will be in order. im just going to turn it into a winter project. new pro. products intake plenum, cam, t/b and since im putting in forged pistons and rods im looking at possibly a 50 shot of sneeze. granted thats more for bragging than ill actually be using it hopefully but now that my gears are in now maybe with these future mods i can actually turn those 96-98 dawgs into somethin worth a second look at

Good deal then. I would suggest taking the crank to the machine shop and having them inspect it and polish it before installing. If it's for a full rebuild, I would take everything to them, pistons, crank and rods, and have it balanced, and have them do the machine work on the block. I usually have every part new, or reconditioned before it goes in, it makes them last a whole lot longer.

I talk to so many people about Mustangs on a daily basis, it's hard to keep track of who is who anymore.....
