Default how to drag with my 02 gt auto. wether to drive with o/d off or on

Hey guys i have an 02 gt and im gonna be taking it to the drag strip soon and i was wondering with it being an auto wat would be my best bet. should i launch it with the o/d on or off? with my o/d on it will only let me go to 90 and then shut me off so should i launch with my o/d on then switch to o/d off when im about to hit 90 or just go with o/d off the whole time? thanks guys i appreciate your help.

If it cuts you off at 90 forget that overdrive gear and run it in drive/3rd whatever it is in that model.

well you should be able to run 130 or so with the o/d on???????

I raced my 01 auto a lot at the track. for best results leave the o/d off all the time when racing. also leave the car in drive and let the computer do the work. my car was always faster that way......

i have a 00gt automatic. i leave the od off. i run street tires with a 260 tread wear so theyre kinda on the soft side. i power brake it up to 6 grand in first shift to 2nd and let out of the gas easy and she hooks up good after that, and definately leave it in drive for best results. dont try shifting it.

fully agreed with all posts... i run a 5spd BUT i know that you should powerbrake an auto matic cuz ur filling ur torque converter with fluid so that the second u take off ur already in all 3 stages of ur torque converter... *if that made any sense what so ever lol* its like having a stall converter right off the line
