Question 2004 Mustang GT, which Shocks to get?

I am about to do my suspension on my 04 gt and i have decided on the H&R SS springs, however i can decide what shocks to get. Its my daily driver and I use it for road trips, however I do a little scca. I've been told the tokeico d-specs are the way to go, the billsteins are best (a little too pricey), and the tokeico hp series is all I need however no one had really given me the pros and cons, what about the eibach pro-damper kit? I guess let me know what you have or know about so i can make a good (hopefully cheap) decision. I plan on adding caster camber plates, spring isolaters, and new sway bars to compliment the drop. Do I need a bump steer kit?

I have the Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustables on my 03 daily driver and love them. As far as a bump steer kit, it depends who you ask and I'm sure everyone has they're opinion but I say you don't need them. You typically dont need them unless you change to a k-member with modified geometry from stock especially k-members that alter the position of the steering rack. Again, it depends who you ask but that has been my experience.

What kind of springs are you using, how much of a drop did you get, and did you use cc plates? Not trying to play 20 questions, just want to get a good understanding before I just buy a bunch of stuff I dont need or want.

I have Steeda springs, I dont know the exact drop but I think its about 1.5" (you can see pics of my car to get an idea of the stance). In my opinion it looks the way it should have looked when it left the factory. Not 'slammed' by any means but gone is the 'lifted' look. I have not yet installed the caster/camber plates. I have them on my 89 and swear by them. You do not nessacarily need them with a mild drop. But if you want maximum handling then they are nessasary. They maximize handling by eliminating the soft strut bushings/mounts and also allow you to set your caster to the most positive setting. They also help to regain the suspesion travel that you lose when you lower a car by pulling the strut shaft upward above the strut tower. They give you the ablility to independently adjust cast/camber. Any time that lower a car you will have to realign it. Camber and toe both usually go negative. Can you align the car to spec without them...yes. Will you get far more benefits with them...yes. Hope that helps.

I would go with coilovers and spend whatever your budget allows...I have konis on my car and they are awesome...don't forget subframe connectors, they make a huge improvement in handling...Maximum Motorsports has the best stuff, check them out. By the way, there is no use in adding all that stuff you have listed to your car, with your "wish" list, you might as well save up and buy a Terminator, it will cost less and be much better in the long run...finally thanks for defending freedom!

Default Maximum Motorsports...

Maximum Motorsports knows their stuff. I got my H&R Sport Springs and Tokico D-specs from them. I went with the D-specs because they're only slightly more expensive than the Illuminas (like $10 per shock/strut if I remember correctly)
The Sport Springs resulted in a dramatic drop over stock...not to mention the ride quality. It was a huge difference. I am personally glad I went with the Sport Springs instead of the Super Sports...I think the SS springs are even lower...because I'd be sucking for clearance if the car rode much lower with the exhaust setup I have.
Either way, the car looks a helluvalot better than it did when it looked like a 4x4...
I had my alignment done, and the shop told me that they would recommend CC plates or my tires will wear on the insides, so count on buying CC plates...or just do a lot of burn outs so your rear tires wear out as quickly as your fronts. Then you won't have to rotate 'em.

I dunno dude...alot of the time people debate about which brand is better. I don't think it matters much because 99.9% of us arent' professional race drivers and don't ever maximize the performance out of the parts we have. But after 15 months in IZ you've got a bank account full of cash...so go nuts. That's what I do. Stay safe.

As others have mentioned, you will be fine with any of these choices:

Tokico D spec
Tokico Illumina
Billsteins

For springs, H&R super sports are highly recommended.
For caster/camber plates, maximum motorsports are highly recommended.

You don't need a bumpsteer kit or pinon snubber.

In the event that you go with coil overs (which I recommend due to the adjustibility in ride height alone) get the maximum motorsports kit. I would run bullit springs in the back though. I liked those much better than rear coil overs and you can use rear adj lower control arms to make the ride height of the rear equal the drop in the front.
