i just purchased the mach 1 pedals and i was looking at a video on autohow on how to install them im just curious he says soak the pedals in boiling water for a few minutes..... what exactly is that for .. am i risking damaging the product and is it necessary ?

As mentioned before, putting them in hot water softens them up nicely and makes the clutch and brake pedal covers much easier to install. In fact, I don't think I could have got mine on without doing so, it takes a lot of wrestling to get them on. After you get the stock ones off you may notice the metal piece they need to go over has burrs and sharp edges. I took a file and removed the burrs and lightly broke the sharp corners I could get to. This should help installation also and minimize the chance of getting a cut in your new covers.
i would soak then in boilng water for like 20-30 seconds. they certainly are hot when they come out but you will see how much easier they are to fit when the rubber is hot. dont expect it to be a breeze though. even when mine were super hot to the touch they were still a pita to get on.
+1 on the screwdriver technique too.

Yup that's right Mello, you'll get to the point were you wanna quit and throw them in the garbage, that's when you get a look of RAGE on your face then THRASH with every inch of strength you have to achieve success!
omg hahaha i know that feeling i can already see myself going bizerk throwing them against anything i see and yelling at whoever is close to me asking me "you get it yet" or "you almost got it" ? hahah i hate it

Trust me they'll fight you like a 5 foot Mexican Line Cook!!
Yeah that's a good idea tell someone at your house to come out to the car 15 minutes after you begin the pedal install and rank your happy scale from 1-10.. I'm predicting 1.0000001 haha!
Also to make my clutch&brake pedals really tight after they got on I shimmed them from behind with strips of plastic, it works good!
does anyone have those "mach 1" pedals on their car already?? if so could i see a pic of them or a link as to where i can see them??
