Question 4.6L motor rebuild. Looking for some advise.

Well my mustang has about 115K-120K miles on it and it started knocking on me today under acceleration in overdrive...I'm hoping that it's just dirty gas since i just filled it up the other day...So I was thinking about if it is the motor starting to go that it would be rebuild time since the wife wants to make the motor N/A 500+HP...So that is why i came here..To ask ou all...

What would need to be done to make a 600-700HP motor with no F/I?? I can reuse the block for sure but everything else I'm unsure of...I can wrench on it myself so that's not a problem. If we go that route I will want to rebuild/build up the tranny and drop in a ford 9" rear axle...

So please give me all your suggestions, opinions, and insight F/I is not out of the questions either....

LOL The knock under accel in 5th isnt a bad motor just something wrong with the car also known as pinging. Could be fuel related, air, spark, timing. So i will leave that alone.

As for a 500 hp motor you arent using the stock block unless you want to build a 2nd motor after the first one takes a crap.

Based off of what im hearing i would put a little more thought into this motor build and maybe let someone else build it for you.

just my take on it.

Yeah I'm hoping it was just a bad batch of gas...the knock sounds like it's fuel/combustion related....I thought you could use the OEM block to run 500HP? If i got all the right parts I could assemble it with no problem...Iv'e rebuilt many carbed chevy motors so i don't think ford motor would give me any issues... The installation and tranny/motor mating i'd probably leave tot eh pros.
