Default Questions About X Pipe

Hey All, I am looking into buying the Pypes 409 Stainless Steel Off-Road X-pipe (99-04 GT and Cobra). As i am not to familiar with the exhaust system i have a few questions for you guys. First off is this a good X-pipe? Not familiar with this brand but the reviews seem to be good enough. Will these work with my stock headers and mufflers i have now? Could you guys recomend an H pipe that will work with the stock headers that is around the same price?

Thanks,
Kyler

I'm not to familiar with Pypes myself , I would recommend Mac o/r x or o/r h for just a little more $$$.And yes it will work with your stock headers and mufflers. Whoever installs it will just unbolt your stock h pipe from the headers and after your cats and bolt on whichever o/r pipe you go with.

An O/R pipe is good, if your mainly driving on the track. For a daily driven car, I would go with a Bassani Catted X pipe. You lose much needed back pressure, with an O/R pipe on a daily driven car. And believe it or not, you could be losing up to 5HP, Mike. SCT Tuner. P.S. I,ve seen it with my own eyes, with a daily driven vehicle on the dyno.

I agree with you on that ITLRUN. When I first put on my o/r h I could feel the loss in power, but after I added some bolt ons it went all uphill from there Cat back is the better exhaust to go with it's just it cost more , so o/r is the easy way out.

i bought the o/r x pipe from them and its fine. i just spent 40 to get them welded as the clamps don't do a great job of holding together. they broke and i had exhaust leaks. a pipe is a pipe .there all made of metal and alll shaped the same respectively. there's no reason to buy a more expensive one .your wasting money, go spend it on taco bell or something. and i dont know how any one can figure how they "lose" hp. if anyone was to actually. it would be a few. so few you wouldnt be able to tell.because hp cant be felt only its effects i.e torque it just doesnt add up. just get the pypes do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it .i dynoed 229 to wheels before tune. i know that cant be just from my cai.(2nd pull) Just frikin do it. just dont cheap out on catbacks they actually make a difference per brand

i have a bbk o/r x-pipe and flowmasters. i had to weld it in because of the clamps as well. it does sound good and raspy if you like the sharp sound. if you like the mellow muscular sound go with a o/r h-pipe. check out some videos on youtube and make your decision. i'm happy with the o/r x.

out of the catback options you have there i would stick with magnaflow. the SLP's will be too loud, and im not a fan of the super 40's. i have the original 40's and i think they sound nice but for some reason the super 40's seem to hollow and tinny.

yeah youll lose respect points from people with obnoxious slp LM. your car can get real loud but tame with some flowmasters or bbk or some other name brands
