Speedometer not working after transmission swap. Help Please!

I recently changed my transmission and now my speedometer doesn't work. i took out the sensor and had a friend turn the key to where the car would come on but not crank i spun the gear and the speedometer worked put it in the transmission and the speedometer drove down the street and it still dont work. bought a new sensor put it in after i tested it speedometer still not reading

Maybe the worm style gear that drives the VSS is stipped or missing. If you remove the VSS and look inside the trans at the output shaft you should be able to at least visually inspect it, assuming its a manual trans with a cable driven speedo.

thanks for welcoming me to the site. its a 1994 GT with the 5.0 and its a manual. would i need to take the transmission out to check the gear?

i took out the VSS and the gear is there and doesn't look stripped or damaged?
