new cobra lights from AM are only like 200 bucks and that includes marker lights too im pretty sure.... and junkyard lights prolly wont be much better than ur lights.... most of these old mustang lights have faded i need to buy a set myself, but tires are more important but it really does sound like they are just being A holes.....

So regarding high mileage cars....

Although the car looks great and drives good the MD inspection uncovered these defects: 1. Battery hold down screw rusted away
2. Fuel neck rusted 3. mufflers outer case seam busted - no leak
4. park brake not strong enough 5. head lights faded 6. front end alignment 7. sever road rash on 1 wheel 8. fuel injector leaking - my fault I changed the plugs and left gas around an injector - no leak
9. Front rotors.

I have fixed everything except the parking brakes; fuel neck $15 auto yard, like new exhaust system craigslist $75m, $125 rotors and brakes, 4 matching wheels $200, alignment $39.99 wih coupon, my labor. Hope to adjust the parking brake today by removing the center console and adjusting the auto-adjuster.

Had I purchased this car in MD or if I lived in NJ, where I made the purchase, I could have made the dealer responsible. I'm still happy with my purchase because 9 years and 193K makes these repairs minor. Those buying high mileage cars should get an inspection before making the final decision. I feel like I'm lucky in a way!

hey man i have a pretty high mileage stang as well, 158K...

mine was previously owned by a black family who liked BLING and CHROME, not hot rodding. the car was AMAZINGLY taken care of and used a commuter to work for 8 years of its life.

im going to be rebuilding the engine and suspension in the near future, maybe you should do the same? ALOT of miles doesnt mean bad car, and in my case, once the car gets a rebuild it will be like new, and the only thing the miles will be telling me is how far the car has traveled!

good luck with your stang

Man....you should know better...These MD shops are strict as S***. Dont settle with the one shops checklist. I live right down the street from you and I can tell you that I have had a lot better luck in shops closer to the city. I dont know how honest of a person you are or claim to be but all you have to do is get into a conversation with the mechanic and work on him. Believe me, I do it all the time. 9 times out of 10 they sell the inspection on the side. If you dont feel comfortable doing that...I can get you a sticker for like 250-300.. That would be a lot less than what your paying for all your crap. PM ME......
But as for the car...I say any mustang is a great buy. These cars are really a work of art. Lets see...You got a unrecked body that is mint , along with the interior that is mint, and a motor that is still strong for how much??? I think thats pretty damn good. I look at it as you can drive this Mustang for how ever long and then when the motor goes, you can drop either a low milage 4.6 or upgrade to something bigger. Your car still looks brand new. You of course will have to monitor the suspension and tranny and stuff like that but hey....we all get the mod bug and you will probobbly end up getting all new suspension anyway so you will have a whole new car.
These 4.6's are not a bad motor and with maintenance can be driven well into the 250-300xxx's. Look at some of these Crown Vic cabs around here. I talked to a cab driver the other day that has 291,000 on his motor. All he does is put new brakes on (about once a week) and change the oil/fluids when needed.
And you know those cab drivers beat the sh*t out of their cars. I mean stop and go and stop and go and stop and go........all the extremes... Anyway good luck man and I would probobly have done the same thing. If you need any help with the inspection, let me know . I know a lot of people who know people..As for your lights...Amazon has some pretty nice lights for 99$ and they look great. I just got them myself.Good luck ..

Oh yea one more thing...when I cam here with some issues, I was told to never replace......but to upgrade!!!! Sounds like a good time for some Flowmaster's and some drilled and slotted rotors. If you think you will ever end up modding this mustang, you might want to think about the couple extra buck's to get something better.

yep haha. my header manifold gasket is leaking, so im getting long tubes and getting my mid pipe redone. then my throwout bearing is also going out, so im replacing my clutch with a spec stage 1 and aluminum flywheel.

its all about making the most out of what is going to be done. why pay labor again later on when you can just spend the extra 2 or 200 haha and get it all done now. just my .02
