ok so i have a 2000 mustang gt and i found out that the engines actually have a name .... one being windsor another romeo now if im going to purchase one of these engines should i be looking for a specific one? like the romeo or windsor.... or how would i know which one my vehicle has and or needs. here is the links to the ones i am looking to purchase.
Winsor is 1999 and 2000, Romeo is 2001 to 2004
I believe the names come from the plants they were assembled and Winsor has a 10.5in clutch and the Romeo runs a 11in and the bolts or 8 or 6 quickly give them away.

also, this is covered in the sticky about PI heads swaps... BUT the valve cover bolt patterns are different too...
so, if said motors dont come with valve covers for WHATEVER reason lol, you will need the proper corresponding valve cover too
good luck monkey, hope u get a good one...however i would buy the one from a crown vic... gotta be SOME reason the cops can beat the hell right outta em and they still run like a champ some 200k later

my dad had a 98 auto z28 and has such horrible brakes he had to replace practically every component 3 or 4 times and when you were coming to a stop, the car would shake violently from the horribly warped rotors. no matter what, it would still have the same results. it would be ok for about 2000 miles and then go to shite

I would find a new mechanic. I wouldn't want anyone working on my car that doesn't like it. My cousin's Chevy has been a piece of crap since it had 30k miles on it, my Bullitt has been fairly trouble free for 85k miles. Other people with Mustangs have big problems with them. I think it's more about how the car was taken care of through the years than what brand it is. If you really want a troublefree car, you wouldn't have bought a Mustang or Camaro to begin with, honestly. You'd be driving a Camry or Fusion.
YAAA they could just be busting ur chops too... i get that all the time... as a matter of fact, someone came to me today and said the same exact thing... and i said "WELL, had i spent the 30,000 dollars on that chevy over there, ur right, i WOULDNT be having this issue right now hahaha" so really its not that its a ford, its just ppl are gonna bust ur chops... but how come Ford hasnt taken any bailout money?? if u take care of the dang thing, you wont have any issues...but only YOU can influence that...
like the example about the type of oil to run... you didnt know, so you learned something and now you know what to do about it right??
as long as your still willin to try buddy, it will come back and help you out too whether u can believe it or not right now...

wow, i would have told that mechanic to piss off.
during some of those years, they are mixed for some reason. You could have a windor or romeo. Easiest is to count the valve cover bolts. Windor has 13 bolt and romeo has 11, if i remember right.
I asked ford about some of the mustang GT's having a Windsor and he said no. So he didnt' know what he was talking about.
They are named for the plants they are made from.
