so yeah i don't know if anyone remembers my thread about the kid on my street talking mad smack about his 2000-2003 eclipse being able to smoke my 02 mustang gt but he was driving down the street one day and i bet him 40 bucks that he wouldn't be able to beat me, and yesterday i walked outside, he drove down the street within 30 seconds of me walking out my door, and i acted kind of annoyed he drove down cause he always does when me or my brother walk outside. and he asked if i wanted to race and i hesitated and said yeah, and we raced twice, once from a 10 or 15 roll and then again from a 30 roll and it was nothing but a waste of my gas. so he owes me 40 bucks now and won't shut up with excuses and calling me. im now 40 dollars richer so hey, not bad!

well congrats man, when i said u were gonna race him i knew u would whoop up on him to bad it was only for 40$.. what i love is they always say mustangs suck everyone Chevy, dodge, Honda, Lambo guys all of them.. but for some reason when they do beet u its like their biggest accomplishment in their life. but when i win they never shut up about it and wont admit to it... o o my tubular bubbler bust blow offer in the left rear front cylinder broke and i had to flip the bubblier button in the middle of they race that's y i lost.. if i only had a nickle for every time i heard that one id b loaded

Some Non-mustang owners cant tell the difference between a V6 and V8 mustang. So when they beat sixers they get confident and cocky. Until they meet your V8. Then its all excuses.

Friend of mine with a Cobalt SS Supercharged claimed to me he has beat a handfull of mustang GT's... Constantly bugged me to race him(obviously to get another win under his belt and beak me). So one night we went out to the highway and did two pulls, one from a dig and one from a roll. Both times I put atleast 4 or 5 car lenghts on him. He didnt wanna meet up to talk after, he just went home lol

As a past owner of a 2001 Eclipse GT, I could have told you that he stood no chance before the race even started.....

Yeah, my ex had one too and she thought it was fast because she beat an old V6 mustang, I ran her as a lesson (and she made a very fun bet) lets just say it was a very memorable night, that was easily the best bet I've ever won.

Ive drove several Eclipses and they may be quick but not off a line next to a GT Mustang.

My current "fun" car is a '97 Mitsubishi Legnum VR4. Its a Galant station wagon with a 2.5L V6 Twin Turbo AWD. It runs a high 13 in the 1/4 mile and I can do that in the rain and never loose traction. The only thing done are bolt ons and its sitting at 300hp. Ive messed around with a few mustangs on the highways over here and have never had much competition except a GT500

. And yes most were GTs.

I have owned everything from a first gen Camaro to a 71 Caddy Coupe Deville to a 65 VW beetle. And I am just finishing up buying a 99 Mustang GT.

In the end a driver can be a big difference even in the same car. I have seen GT mustangs loose to civics due to a bad driver and a V6 mustang outrun a twin turbo supra, a driver who can drive and knows the car is alot better than a crapy driver with an awesome car.

Dont knock a car because its a little different from your taste. Everyone laughs at my Legnum but its a fun car to drive.

And just remember for every retarded idiot in riced out import there is some tool sitting in a muscle car that is riced out and looks even worse

Oh yeah im new here to but hate to hear people knock a car just because of who made it and never try and see what the car is capable of.

guys those posts were hilarious it was awesome seeing his car fall back in my mirrors. and easy money is oh so sweet! and eric 891 i'm not knocking him or his car all i wanted to do was shut up his crap talking and prove to him that his car wasn't faster than a mustang gt. and while i was at it i decided to put money on it because i knew what the end result would be.

and Pickles, i called him after i pulled off and made a u-turn after i had a good amount of cars on him and he said that sprint races arent real races and that he was only going 80. i told him i was at 100 and offered to race again and wouldn't do it. he just wouldn't race again. he told me that topping the cars out from a dig was the "real" way to race. i just had no idea what to say to that because it sounded so idiotic and almost childish and.... i don't even know.i guess topping ht ecars out in a race is a good idea if you want to mess up your car or even die, but every time i go outside my house he walks down and tells me how his car runs 13s on the quarter and crap like that. sore loser man.

It takes more money than an 3G Eclipse costs to get one into the 13's. Stock, even the Eclipse GT's run high 15's, low 16's stock. Trust me, I had one. My Bullitt ran 13's the first time on the track, bone stock. There's just no comparing cars like that. The convertible Eclipse featured in Fast and the Furious was barely a 13 second car, most of the time it ran low 14's. I have met the real owner of it before, and that was the car that made people think there was hope in making a 3G Eclipse fast. He, like most people who had dreams of having a fast 3G Eclipse, has sold that car, gave up, and bought an EVO.

You can't get into the 13's without a great turbo setup, or RIPPMODS supercharger, period. I would bet he's a 15 second car.

one time some kid in a eclipse WITH a turbo pulled up next to me ( i was driving a jeep srt8) and he yelled "your car aint S***)" at me... i laughed in his face as i pulled away from him until he was so far behind he that i couldnt hear his fart can anymore. this kid also had one of those shocker stickers on his 1/4 window. ive seen him a few times since in my mustang and he wont even look at me... freaking tool bags

My Brother is into the Eclipse's. I also had a 2000 GT v6.. I can say that the only quick Eclipse is the the 1st Gen. 90-92 DSM's
Those things love RPM's and tack out fairly high. However.....The amount of money you need to dump into these things to get them to be track status is UNREAL!!! My Brother is up to $5,000 and still needs to open the motor to build her up. HE DID IT BACKWARDS!!!I told him to get a mustang and be done but he is young. His motor is on the brink of going BOOMM!!!!! Yea you can get a big old turbo and up the boost but those motors are not made to handle all the power he wants to throw at it. I say get a 5.0 or 4.6 get gears, a tune, and be done.
