how much money cdoes it cost to install cams? like a ballpark price, and does it take a couple of days? with a set of cams, anything else necessary to be done?

10 hours of labor to install cams, I'd say. So whatever labor costs are at your shop, adjust on that.

I would recommend all new timing components. I'm ponying up for the new Cloyes Hex-a-Just timing set. Also make sure that they are capable of degreeing the cams in before handing over the keys.

The factory timing gears have been known to be up to 7 degrees off, so degreeing is a must in my mind.

i just did mine at home took me two weeks, first time pullin the motor porting heads, timing motor(really easy but im not to bright) installing cams, doing a GOOD valve lash job, and headers.. so if u have another vehicle id recomend doin it ur self great learning exsperince if u do cams in car i bet it could be done in 1 weekend

whats kind od cams you doing? are you doing springs as well? For a experienced shop/ mechanic 8 hours is the norm. the first time I did a cam/ spring swap on a mod motor took me 10 hours.

I have never seen stock cam gears more the 4 degrees off but that dont mean thy cant be....

its not a bad job to do at home if you have basic mechanic knowledge.

Not to jack this thread... But with a 2002 gt motor, they have a keyway in the cam and cam gear... How would you degree this?

Either buy the Cloyes hex a just timing set, or grind out the keyway until you get the proper timing.
