Default Changing Spark Plugs

Changing the spark plugs on my 2000 GT. Any dos or don'ts? Due you have to remove the rails. Does the mass air need to be taken off? Doing this first thing in the morning please provide some tips

mark your wires to color code which wire is which, you dont want any mix-ups.,and change them as well.

i do believe he's got the coil packs.... you do not have to remove the fuel rail.... ease the coil up and then just pull it to the side a little and it'll come right off.... and you do not have to mess with the mass air....

***make sure you get the area you will be working as clean as possible so that you don't get any stray dirt/whatever down in the engine***
*check your old plugs to see what condition they are in(itll tell you if you need to do something different than what you had)
*gap plugs
*use antiseize on the threads
*use dielectric grease
*check the boots on the coils to make sure they are not damaged in any way

well you do have to take tha mas air flow sensor off if you want to take your intake off. and you dont have to take the rails off but id reccomend it. the plugs are easy to cross thread. and use a spark plug socket so you dont knock the gap off of your plugs

Good recomendationt too is use a spark plug socket with a rubber gromet inside it to catch the plug. Some of them don't have them.

Use a torque wrench to put the new plugs in.

A combination of no anti-seize and overtorqued plugs will eventually lead to the dreaded shooting a plug out of the cylinder head.

Thanks to all....Just completed. Removed the rail and pinched a oring on one of the injectors. Turn'd the oring over and carefully reinstalled - no more leaking!

Had one plug (2nd in from firewall on passenger side) that had oil down in the hole???? Engine runs smooth, no oil burning from exhaust. Not sure where the oil came from?

could be a leak in the valve cover.... recently changed plugs in f150 and had the same situation.... was it a ton of oil or just a little bit?

Probably either a small oil leak on top of the engine or in most cases it is caused by pouring oil in the fill hole and missing.

I would descirbe the amount as about a table spoon full. It was too far from the fill (2nd back near the TB) neck to be caused by filling. I couldn't feel oil near the cover seal. I can't imagine it being anything other than the vavle cover gasket?????

i had the same problem but it was water. it looked like oil but it would start misfiring somtimes when i would wash my car or if it rained somtimes. a few times i had to take the coils off and blow the plug hole out with a air hose while the plugs are still in
