Default Pointless or not???

My 4.6 has 40k miles and i just changed the antifreeze that was pointless right?

No! It wasn't pointless! You did good. Just make sure there aren't any air bubbles in the system or you could have yourself a problem. My 1998 Mustang GT didn't get a coolant change for some 80,000 miles and now has a minor rust problem! I have to check the coolant and clean it every now and then. Did you change the coolant or take it to a shop?

Ok! Did you remove the engine block drain plugs or did you just drain it from the radiator drain fitting?

i drained it from the hose on the bottom of the radiator and i took off the cap on top.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one! Just make sure you don't have any leaks! It is good to maintain your car! My 2002 Mustang GT needs a coolant change and it has 30,000 miles (the recommended time to change coolant). I have small signs of rust and corrosion already!

its never a bad thing to give your car a tune up. i try to change my spark plugs once a year. oil every 3k. antifreeze. tire pressure. keeps it running strong!

You did a very good job. Some sources recommend every 2 years.
