Default 2001 Mustang gt, 2003 Mustang gt or 1999 Mustang cobra convertible?

So, i've been around the stang scene for a while and purchased my 69 coupe last year. She is still a work in progress but we are getting there... slowly. But anyways i recently had my daily driver totaled when a guy hit it while it was parked. Needless to say, it was completley his fault and his insurance cut me a check. So on to the point, i have my eye on a few 01-04 gt's and also have a 99 svt vert lined up. Basically it will be a daily driver, nothing crazy but i plan to make her quick. Which would be the best purchase, Reliability wise, performance potential, and overall satisfaction? Any and all help is greatly appreciated, Jimmy

you know, id say the cobra vert. you want her fast, she will already be much faster for a dd than the other two and shes built just as strong as the others. as long as the cobra vert matches the other gt's in a mechanically and cosmetically sound wise, i say the cobra.

plus, you get the chance to say, "yeah shes a cobra." thats got to be cool

But a big difference is the vert has about 120k and i could get a gt with as little as 60, and i know its all up to how it was treated, but i guess i am making myself really skeptical of the motor's strength. Plus that whole business about them not meeting hp specs at first due to faulty intakes and exhaust.

well i cant deny the whole not meeting hp specs and what not. i remember that a long time ago. i mean if the miles are literally half, i might say do the GT. and if the vert is an auto and the gt is a stick, go gt. i HATE autos more than i hate 3rd generation welfare families. but id say test drive them all, and more than once if possible. and get the maintenance records. maybe the 120 is a very well maintained and easily driven 120. or maybe not. decide based on a mechanical decision. if one is not very well maintained, then 86 it. but just do your due dilligence and make sure its not gonna break a month into ownership

As far as mileage is concerned, I just purchased a 2000 GT vert with 193K (all origin) that is still running strong and looks great. The cobra vert (if not beat up) should be a fun car to own. The dd thing may be tricky!

I doubt there is a 99 Cobra that hasn't had the fix. SVT didn't build Cobras in 2000 just so they could fix all 99s. Also, if it doesn't have a stick it's not a Cobra unless it's been converted. No cobra ever rolled off the assembly line with an auto. The lower mileage and the fact you know the owner might actually cause me to go with the GT despite my sig line.
