Has anyone used the new trick flow twisted wedge heads yet? I hear they are pretty awesome, but wouldnt mind hearing what you guys have to say before i buy. I'm kind of worried about reliability, especially after reading about Patriot's quality control issues.
Also on summitt racing, there are 2 different sets....there is a set for $1000 which has one spring per valve, and another set for $2000 for 2 springs per valve. Whats with the huge price gap there? Is 2 springs really worth while for an N/A street motor?
Thanks Again guys,

I think there may be some confusion, there's no way you can get a set of 4.6 Trick Flow heads for $1000, no matter what the configuration.
There are a few different sets either out, or coming out soon though. There's a 38cc set for higher compression, and a 44cc set for standard compression. Both cost around $2000. There is also a TFS Race head coming, that will probably be ported.
That's not expensive if you put it in context. $2000 for a set of heads that will outflow any ported head on the market. Going rates for a good port job is $1200-1400, then add in the new castings, better valve placement, and replaceable cam journals.
I think they're actually a bargain for what you get.

Yeah i guess your right, i think it still might be more than I can afford depending on if my engine needs a rebuild or not. Replaceable cam journals eh? thats kind of neat, why would you ever need to replace your cam journals?
thanks,
Rich

yeah they seem like a good deal for a little more thann 2k. but if you have to get them professionally installed then thats when it kinda sucks. for parts alone and then just ur labor, not bad at all. throw that in with a new cam, and makes for a great great combo

Factory 4.6 heads do not have cam bearings, the cams ride straight in the machined surfaces of the cylinder heads. I've pulled 2V engines apart with as little as 60k miles that had major wear and score marks in the cam journals. You can hone them a little to fix minor defects, but all it takes is one good scar to ruin a complete cylinder head. By making the cam journals replaceable, you don't have to buy a whole $1000 cylinder head, you can buy a $150ish cam journal, and be back on the road.
