I think you would be much better off using a Moroso accusump as a preoiler. i used one of their smaller 1 1/2 quart models when racing my 66 gt, easy to rig, and all metal parts, none of them moving except the valve , which is a standard ball valve, here's how you righ it. first look under the hood , its about the size of a 1 litre soda bottle and has to go in straight up or pretty close. if you find a spot all set. next put a tee fitting where your oil pressure sensor goes into the motor . one sid e of tee goes to sender , one side to motor the third side to the hose . leading to the accusump. put a valve on the bottom of the sump, i used a good quality ball valve, then a high quality braided steel hose to the tee on the motor, make sure everything is away from heat as well as possible. and secure. you add 1 quart more oil to motor , fire it up and slowly open valve on sump , you will hear oil enter pump. next shut off motor after a minute and top off , should take about 1/2 more oil . . start it again and fill sump. by opening valve. ... you're done. everytime you start motor you crack valve , then start engine , oil has been delivered to bearings before you cranked it. allow to idle and sump refills, you can drive , or race , like this , just remember to close valve on sump before shutting off motor, next time you start repeat, just open valve before you start it , close valve before you shut it off, that worked for me for 15 years , no problems at all.
