Default Street Legal BIW?

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2000 Body in white to replace my rusty body. It has absolutely nothing on it and it doesn't even have a VIN. How can I get this car street legal? My existing body is a 96GT so I dont think I'll be fooling anybody with a VIN swap lol. Would it have to be considered a Kit car or something like that?
Thanks alot,
Rich

the body parts are not the same you cannot not interchange them. these cars are unibodys so its not like you can just so that.

No No I realise that. I bought my 96 with the intent of building a good steet car so I was going to replace alot out of it. It turns out that the body is really rusty, so I decided to give up on that body. I know that most of the interior parts between the sn95s and the new edge bodies are interchangable as well as the motor, rear end, and tranny. So i plan on swapping those parts.

My question was more related to the legalities of doing this. I don't think i can change the VIN over to that body can I? If not, do I need to register it as a kit car/ home built car or something along those lines?

Thanks
Rich

Bodies in white were not eligible for registration when sold originally, they were just for racing purposes.

The simple and best answer would be to call your department of motor vehicles, and ask them the implications, and tell them exactly what you are doing. That would be the best answer you could get. Anything else we tell you will be pure speculation.
