Was just wondering if it would be safe to install the H&R Super Sport Springs w/o camber plates? I've looked at the Eibach Pro but I like the drop of the H&R; Aprrox. 2" front and 1.6" rear. I don't really want to buy the camber plates and a bumpsteer kit, just springs and new isolaters.

be very very careful with lowering springs...I have the H&R's that lower it 1.25" in the front and 1" in the rear and my exhaust is pretty close to the ground...yes your car will look sweet and aggressive with the lowering springs, but you have to think about any possible damage that may happen to your exhaust in case of speed bumps, pot holes, low driveways, etc. I already bottom out more than I would ever want to (not that much, but still happens on high speed bumps or steep driveways). so I would recommend the ones I have because I can't imagine being that low, especially if you want to put some nice exhaust parts on there. just something to consider with your purchase

Dont forget that normaly when you lower your car it can not be put back into proper front end alinment with out the caster and camber plates. When I purchased my 01 GT it had lowering springs without the plates. When I had worn the tires down to about time to replace them I noticed the inside corners where worn a lot more, almost to treads. Was a great alignment if you liked to autocross but if its a daily driver you will want the plates.
I've just decided to cut about 1 1/2 coil off the bottom of the front springs and go from there. I'm fairly knowledgeable and have a retired grandfather who was a chemical engineer, jet and auto mechanic to help.

Cutting the springs isn't a good idea. You might be able to get away with it but if the factory are progressive rate like the aftermarket units you're just asking for poor ride quality.

I was told that not all cars, and springs will require a caster camber plates. I was told buy the springs install them and then see if your car will align. I also like the H&R springs, and will be getting some with out caster plate buy December. I will agree that you really need to be careful in selecting springs for you driving needs. On my first stang there springs already installed when I got the car. It was a daily driver. I tore the exhaust system to hell going over a speed bump slow and at an angle. I got that fixed and was driving down the road about a month later I had to swerve to avoid an accident went over some old railroad tracks and once again bent the muffler down so bad I had no choice but to go right then and have it fixed. I loved the stance it was awesome, my stang now only gets driven on the weekend so now is a bit different. Good Luck and post pics!!!
This isn't my daily driver, I'm getting it painted in a couple weeks and was just going to go ahead and do the rest of my appearance mods before I get it sprayed. I'm gonna cut the stock springs first and if that doesn't go well I'll get the H&R SS springs.
