so yeah, i look up random stuff about mustangs all the time when im on the computer, and i couldn't help but noticing the 2001-2004 mustang gt 0-60 time is 6.0 seconds and the 1999-2000 is 5.5. does anybody know why is there a half second difference there? is the 6.0 seconds for an auto?
I think it's funny when magazines do 0-60 and 1/4 mile time runs with some moron that probably drives a Prius behind the wheel of a Mustang GT 5 speed, I take the numbers in Road and Track, Car and Driver,Motor Trend etc.. with a grain of salt!! I like when Evan Smith does his own tests of the new models in the Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Mag, there you'll get some real world numbers from an accomplished driver in the Stang scene Many Years! He's ripped off sick times with stock new showroom cars!!
Crappy driver, bad timing equipment, traction control, different gas, different humidity, temp, could be dozens of reasons why they are 1/2 second off...

That hunk of junk? Yeah, well I've made a few special modifications to that yellow 99 Gt, it makes the Kessel run in 12 parsecs and eats turbo japs and poops chevy's

Right and each car can be a little different, one magazine might test a car that has a "hotter" factory tune and another that has a weak factory tune or issue. That would easily make for 1/2 second in a 0-60 test.

like others have said, the drivers make a difference, as well as temp, traction... maybe one mag did one test, and another one did alot and avereaged them

As far as I'm concerned doing 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs at a dragstrip to test new car times with RADIALS is pretty much a waste, you can get somewhat of an idea of the cars potential by that trap speed but I like when Evan (MM+FF) bolts up Drag Slicks on showroom new 2010 GT's, GT 500's etc.. then you see times the car is capable of running in stock form with good traction!
