i might be doing a gear swap then. should i spend the extra 140 on a traction lok rebuild? and even then, what is a traction lok?

If it has high mileage or only one tire is spinning, you might want to look into a rebuild kit but get the carbon fiber kit. The Tlok makes it where both tires spin instead of one.
It won't kill your top end but how often are you trying to hit 150mph?

all good replies guys.

the paint job: the paint job will set me back probably $200 (WHAT?) yeah, im lucky, my dad has been painting cars for 22 years and he's doing mine for free.

all i will be paying is supplies.

and i see what you guys mean about 3.73s and top end, im never actually trying to reach 150+, so i really shouldent worry about top end.

can anyone tell me how wide of a rear tire i can put on my mustang without modification? that will influence my decision also.

I like to go w/ looks, but thats only because I dont race (no racetrack here, and street racing kills).

Plus, like you said, nobody will know what you got under the hood except you...

Also, my guess is that your catless H w/ flowmasters is enough to make ppl at least THINK you got lots of hp

i would get the headlight/tailight situation under control, which is unusual because im all for performance over looks. appearance should be after you are 100% content with the performance of your engine, transmission, rear end, and suspension. (that's what my plan is at least).

dude, invest in learning how to do your own work on the car. get manual tools and such and read your head off and learn how to do something like a PI swap and such. you will save thousands in the long run if your planning doing alot to your stang.

i would go for 3.73 or 410 if your going to be on the track alot. a full PI swap can do nothing but good. thats an extra like 40 HP. best bang for the buck.

i would learn how to do alot of this work myself but i dont have anywhere to do it, nor the right tools.

my dad is a body man/moderate mechanic.

he is a chevy guy and knows nothing of the ford modular engine.

I guess I would go with the performance first and then the cosmetic.

The fogged/scratched/weathered headlights make your car look like crap. So do ricer tail lights. Good choice. You gotta fix a few cosmetic things here and there, but performance is where it's at.
I saw a street rod the other day, that was made to look like a piecer on purpose. The bumper sticker said "honk if parts fall off," but it looked like it might haul total ass.

lol i guess im the only one who voted for cosmetic

i read ur post and in a "if i were in your shoes" case scenario, i voted for cosmetics, the head & taillights had to go, get yourself that paint job, and then make the inside look pretty awesome!! after all, when your just cruising, thats what you have to stare at!!

NOT TO MENTION, that if you have a really PRETTY mustang, with really neat stuff in the interior, you use the exterior to get a girl TO the car, then u use the interior to get the girl IN the car capishe??

but you should SO totally get your dad to paint flames on your car, TRUST ME its the sickest thing ever
