Good luck on your ASVAB. Don't sweat the test, it isn't that big of a deal. You get a ridiculous amount of time. At least back in '03 (when I took mine) they did.
I don't know about the USMC but in the Army, if you're in a Infantry unit, there will be no females in your unit. But females do serve in the military and in overseas as well.
Don't expect to hook-up with local females in a f***ed up country. Trust me, there will be plenty of Military females for you to get to know in places like the MWR, and other sporting events (its not just the USMC out there).
Depending on the FOB (forward operating base) you'll be located, you'll either hate it or love it. And know you'll be going overseas soon. Like when they told me when I enlisted, "its not if you're going, its when you're going."

Don't sweat the ASVAB, if you worry about it, you'll just do worse.
Best thing I ever did was join the Army. Kind of sucked sometimes, but I stuck with it, and now I'm retired collecting a paycheck every month from the Army, around $1200, plus I was wounded in Iraq and recieve 60% disability from Veterans Affairs, which is $900, and then I got a government contract job training soldiers before they go to Iraq and Afghanistan, and make good money there.
yaaa its pretty easy if i must say... i got a 78 on mine... *average score over all areas* highest score being in mechanical lol... if u know how one gear turning another will effect the next gear due to size or how many gears, thats basically the mechanical part... i dunno about you but im really good in math, so its basic algebra and what not there... a few really tough questions, that i too just guessed on :/ but overall not a bad test... but knowin the USMC lol NO OFFENSE here, but it is fact, if your goin infantry, i dont think they really care much as to what ur asvab score is... my sister entered with ppl who were goin for infantry that scored like a 35 in the army and well, they accepted em sooo ya dont sweat it... but uhhh
whats your MOS?? *ur job if ur not up to speed with all the acronyms yet*

Just relax and definitely answer every question, even if you don't know take your best educated guess and keep moving. I scored a 94 overall, a great resource is www.military.com, you can take practice ASVAB tests & review your answers. An awesome site for information if you are considering joining.
bullett5339 sorry to hear u wher hurt hopefully nothin to bad.. 78 and 94 r way good scored we just had a girl score a 99 last month she is going ta tutor me alittle and im gona check out that military.com and im goin in basic infantry i just want to see thing most dont ive lived in co my whole life never really been out of longmont never out of colo..
and popeye54k thanks good to know thier will b lots of girls cant imagine goin 7 months with no female ineraction
I don't even remember what I scored, it's been so long..........lol
They've probably changed the test since I took it anyways. It did qualify me to do anything that was available though. That's the difference, it's never what you want to do, it's what's available at the time. There's more than just the overall score, that really means nothing. The GT score (one of the line scores) is the most important for most jobs. That's what will get you into more technical jobs, and once it's time for reenlistment, it must be over 100 in order for you to even be eligible to reclassify to a different or better job.
That's the real key. The individual line scores are much more important than the overall. After your initial testing, the overall score is listed nowhere in your records, only the line scores are. It's funny because the GT was my lowest line score at a 118, 130 is perfect. The GT is supposed to really be the indicator of how easy it is for you to learn new things. Anything over 100 is good, above 110 is great. My GT was my lowest score somehow, even though it's taken from all the individual sections, and they were all over 123.
So, once you get in, you may want to study up, and retake it before reenlistment time, so that you actually have some options for other jobs, if you don't like your current one.
This coming from a retired Army Retention School graduate .....
Oh, and women go with you no matter where you go. The only units that absolutely have no females in them are Infantry and Artillery. Anything else is a mix.
i dunno how it is in the USMC, but if you dont like the job your assigned in the air force, you DONT have to sign the paper.... which is where i made my mistake lol i shoulda been a firefighter... and my chance of being able to stay would have severely increased if i had been a firefighter... anyway, again, i know in the air force you actually HAVE a choice, and i wish someone would have guided me to the right choice, and not just wat i thought sounded cool
so again, lol wats your MOS??
