Default how many lifters is on a 4.6?

any 1 know how mnay lifters there is total?

+1. It is an over head cam motor. The cam rides right on the valves.

It's splitting hairs but it does have lifters, they're just called lash adjusters on the 4.6.

In this aspect, it's the same as a pushrod V8... it has 1 lash adjuster (lifter) per valve.

Depends on which 4.6 you have. The old SOHC engine had 2 valves per cylinder (16 valves). The DOHC engine has 4 valves per cylinder (32 valves). The new SOHC engine has 3 valves per cylinder (24 valves).
