ok, so after my last thread, i have no idea what i want to do with 1100ish to spend..
ok so i know ive got a million ideas and can never make up my mind. buuut i want to make the most out of my money and the fact that i have the time while im on vacation to leave my car with someone.
heres what needs to be known about my car, and my future intentions. ive got more to spend on my car, but 250 is intended for the install of my spec stage 1 clutch and spec aluminum flywheel. (only 560 total for the clutch and fly, not bad) i have an exhaust leak at the manifold, so im guessing i need a new gasket, but works case scenario is i do need it and thats 150 plus a gasket. so lets say 950 to spend including labor. Im looking to make it an autocross car later on in life. otherwise known as like now. but my track up here is all but closed for the winter months. so its my time to make her ready for the track. oh and i need tires for the car. so thats 380 installed.
but also, i can wait for the clutch for another week, if absolutely necessary.
and lets say, right now, i dont want gears. not yet. cause i know ill get a million "get gears !" responses. ill get it later on. but soon, so dont worry haha. that i can get done close to me while im at work. so it has to be put off for a minute. what i want to take care of now, is what needs to be done cause it will take a while. under normal circumstances i cant be without the car, cause its my dd. but this is cause ill be on vaca. so please keep that in mind.
thanks all. i know i put a few of these up, but im just trying to make up my damn mind haha

Hmm so that leaves you 150, after the clutch and exhaust fix. Sooo, what can you do with that?start saving for your tires

ok no no. 1100 is after the clutch. then yes 150 for the exhaust. the 380 for the tires. but what im saying is that i could put off the clutch for a week, and get em done next paycheck. so lets say, 900 after everything, and dont include, exhaust fix (but use long tubes if u think so which would add 150 to the 900) or the clutch from that.

Well you dont have many mods, so what about an intake. Not sure how you guys do it on the 4.6 but i know thats a big thing on our 5.0's. Or when is the last time you did a good tune up? Plugs wires all that good stuff. I know its not $900 worth but its a start. OH wait you should look into some P.I heads. Big deal on the 4.6s pretty good increase in HP with the heads. And they are pretty plentiful. Or a tuner. that would be really handy With the exhaust and intake and will be much more helpful in the future as you add more mods.

well ive the cai. i hate it but its there. and im about a million percent sure ive got a pi intake on my car. ive got the exhaust. ive got a mild cam, im almost sure of it. i mean for a dd, where i drive 5 miles each way at 30mph and cause my track is closed for the winter, i would like to focus on the handling in the mean time. ill get a dyno run for 85 (3 pulls) along with whatever i do. just to see where im at with this f'n mystery of a new to me car.

you didn't think about handling and you want to autocross? Wow, that is fairly ignorant, esp for a Mustang...put all your money into the suspension and tires, then work on the power.

+1, if for autocross, i would look towards suspension first.
Lowered, with beefier sway bars, shocks n struts, and full length subframe connectors. You will need power too to push out after the turns.

im gonna get the ford racing handling kit i think. its affordable, and comes with everything i need. only drops it an inch, but i dont need to go much lower, cause the roads here make you need all the height you can get haha. so the inch plus firmer ride will do most of what i need, for now. ill eventually go for maximum motorsports road & track kit, but thats $1800 later. ill also get the new clutch and aluminum flywheel (which i already have both) installed. im also gonna do the 3 run power pull on the dyno to see where i am as a base. im hoping for 220 to the wheel. we'll see though. then the week following, or maybe that week if i have the money after i get back from vacation, ill get the new tires. then ill be good to go for a while. after i do this to the car, im just gonna do to it what i need to pass inspection.
thats a fairly small list:
exhaust leak fixed
cats put on
new headlight housing and new headlights (could do the clean up, but ill just go for some new stockers)
probably a fender
get my cel working
then shes all ready to go for the track, till i save up money for some power mods.

What is your exact engine setup at the moment? You mentioned a PI intake and a cam (cams?) but I didn't seem them in your sig. 220rwhp isn't going to happen with just exhaust and a CAI, but it's definitely attainable if you've removed some of the non-PI stuff.
If your clutch is toasted now, I'd suggest getting it done ASAP. You'll be totally pleased with the results because you've gotten used to driving around with a sloppy, slipping clutch.

well heres the deal, i blew my tranny yesterday. so i had to buy a new one. so i now do not have the money for anything i wanted to do haha. except for the clutch and fly. im paying for the labor of that, and theyre doing the transmission replacement for it. makes me sad.
yeah im pretty sure ive got the pi intake on there. has the aluminum crossover. i know they make a nonpi with the aluminum, but im almost certain the guy before me put the pi one on there. the reason the mods are not in my sig, is because i didnt do them, nor have i had them confirmed. by the exhaust and other mustang guys opinions im pretty sure i have a mild cam. nothing really radical at all. just better than stock. since i havent verified anything, and i cant get ahold of the owner, two owners ago, to get what has actually been done, i wont put it in my sig. thats where the "other mods may not be known" thing comes into place.
right now i have a short ram intake, o/r x and thats all i know of for certain. ill know more in the next few weeks. after i get this transmission thing over with im gonna go get it dynoed so i know where i stand for a base line. ill update more after that.

What is their basis for thinking you have a cam? Is there a lope to your idle? You could probably take vacuum measurements and determine if there is a non-stock cam in it, without pulling the valve covers.
I'd be wary of doing engine mods until you've got a handle on what you've got. Spend the money on the clutch (which will do you right, regardless of your engine setup.) Then, like you said, baseline the car to see where you're at, and keep us posted!
