Can you say.... you were lucky go get it back with minimal damage! Yes you can. Glad you got it back and it didn't turn into some major damage or the theives trying to get at you because you spotted them. Good deal.

Besides the tires, did they pop the ignition/ steering column tearing up everything to get it started?

Had my new 94 GT stolen in late 94, never saw it again...glad you got yours back...yeah, I'd invest in Lojack (or at least the steering wheel bar/lock) or some kinda tracking if you live in a high theft area...of course a few rounds of 9mm ammo from my Glock might put a quick end to the escapade!

wow, that's sucks and that's great you got it back. +1 about being lucky they found it. Most never find their car or it's gutted or torched.
I had my 95GT broken into but if they stole any of my cars, i would have broken down too bro.

i have had nightmares about my car being stolen.

it comes from the feeling i had when someone tried to bust out my window with a brick then just kick the side scoop. caused like 1050 bucks in damage. then i parked it on the street and went to a bar only to find my stang had been keyed. i effing hate haters.

I thought these 4.6 engines will not start with out the proper key..Isnt there a theft light or something on your dash? I allways thought the keys were chipped and when inserted in the ignition this sends a "GO" to the PCM for start up? What is this theft light for then?

Anyway....Man you are one lucky SOB....I have a friend that posted his 5.0 on CL and the next day was gone...R.I.P.......
He let the entire world know that under his hood he was 10 grand invested. The only thing he had left was an old leak spot in the driveway and the add on CL. So yea....You made out..!!!!!
If I was you (wich I couldnt even begin to imagine), I would change my oil and maybe flush the gas tank. I might just be crazy paranoid but if they blew your tires, they could of been like "Lets F.. this car up" and pour crap in the engine and gas cap.
Im not trying to make your situation worse bud...Just saying what Id do. Oh yea, Id wash that thing from top too bottom and check for illegal chit...(under the seats, trunk. ect..)

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

That is a good point.... Yea, what's with that? Anyone?

Maybe its as easy as reprograming a new key If you can buy a remote off ebay and program it yourself....which is very easy....who's to say someone with a special skeleton key couldnt had just stuck it in and programed a new remote to unlock the system.. With out any more info, I can only think that 1).this is an inside job...(dealer/knowledgable mechanic)
2.) someone who has been in contact with you got your spare and copied it...
3.) if your not the first owner, someone had a key from the prior ownership or the dealer that sold it too you somehow let the key slip away and fall into the hands of a thug.

What the hell...I dont know...But you really should think about the entire scenario. This obviously wasnt just a random act..or at least it doesnt sound like it is...

I thought about this over night..... If there was some kind of key involved (we think) how come they did not use it to unlock the door. Most cars now a days use the same key.
