Simply put, the GT is a 16-Valve SOHC motor and the MACH is a 32-Valve DOHC motor. They both have aluminum heads, but there's a big difference between the two!

The Mach 1 has an all aluminum (block and heads) 32 valve, double overhead cam motor. It has 10.1 to 1 compression ratio, and was underrated by Ford at 305hp and 320tq. It has intake cams from the Lincoln Navigator 5.4L mod motor, which give the car much more favorable low end and mid range torque over previous 4V Cobra motors, but sacrifices some of the high end horsepower the earlier motors were known for.

Well the mach unfortunately doesn't have forged internals so it's hp potential is limited, I recommend just waiting, saving, and getting a terminator.

The block isn't an issue, it's more than capable of handling 700+ horsepower. The problem is the crack powdered rods and pistons. Stock Mach 1 motors can handle FI applications under low boost of about 8-9psi and producing around 450-465rwhp. They also take real well to a 100-150shot of nitrous. Anything much beyond these limits will require a forged bottom end.

Other than the labor, a rebuild shouldn't cost too much. They have the forged crank, all you need is pistons and rods if you want big power. Boltons should get you around 320 at the wheels will put around a 12.7-12.9 depending on traction and your driving. Am I'm not sure what it is but the automatic Machs had some differences from the stick shift I believe.

I would get the Mach 1, but I also prefer the old body style. Though to be honest, the 05+ have a lot of good points to them and respond very well to mods.
