I need a new clutch but I need some input. My Stang is a daily driver and has 104k miles. I have a few upgrades like new pulleys and a cold air intake. The clutch is screaming and smells like its on fire so I know its time to replace it. My question is whats the best kit to get without burning a hole in my pocket. Is a stage 1 going to make a difference in the way the car drives? Or will it feel about the same. Keep in mind its a daily driver, im not planning on running it at the track till i can afford to replace the engine.
Thanks for the help
im putting my spec stage 1 and spec aluminum fly also this week, should be Tuesday when my new trans gets here. whole clutch kit was like 229, and if you get the coupon code from AMNick then you pretty much 86 the tax or get a discount. depends what state ur in

seems like i would think the puc clutch of the stage 2 would be a bit much for a dd or a non-built trans. my normal mechanic has a 95 5.0 vert pushing 542 to the wheel and he blew his semi-built transmission with the stage 2.
if its a dd, go with the stage 1. not so much overkill. just remember when you go and get the clutch put in to either resurface your flywheel or put a new one in. youll hate yourself if you dont. lots of vibration, and youll more than likely destroy your clutch. just fyi

Thanks, how much should it cost to resurface it. Can any shop do it?
I'm pretty sure im going with the stage 1, just don't know who has the best kits for the best price.

ram clutches are good, but pretty costly. king cobra clutches are recommended by Pro-Motion transmissions out of florida, so that not bad. I probably would have gone with that if i had talked to walt or wally down there before i ordered mine. so stage 1 is the way to go, but who you go with, i dunno. i would stay within those three brands though. and if possible shop from american muscle. the service is great, free shipping. but just look at all the prices and see what you want. also read reviews on all of them from all over the internet. i heard great things about the spec so i got it.
and most mech shops send them out to be resurfaced. so if you wanna avoid that delay get a new one. but also look at what your driving habits are and then read the "lightweight flywheel or not" sticky. decide between aluminum and billet steel. id say, just my .02, billet steel for straight line and aluminum for road course.

centerforce is a good clutch too.
dont waste ur cash on a new flywheel take it to a napa or what not and maybe $30 if that u get ir blanched ( resurfaced )
weather u buy a new FW or resurface old buy a can of brake parts cleaner and clean FW and new pressure plate
