got my new transmission, clutch and flywheel installed today!!!
ok so my 97 gt coupe has new life in her. my new transmission was delivered so i was able to get her back on the road. installed my spec stage 1 clutch and spec aluminum flywheel also. its such a difference to drive a car with a good clutch!!! the pedal is so much easier to push in. theres actually that soft bit at the top of the pedal. it doesnt get hard from the moment you touch it. nor does it squeal like a wounded pig haha. also, heres the fun part, its aluminum flywheel is bad a** !! to be sitting there and hit the gas and see it wrap so easily is sick. im glad i went with that fly. and take off going up a hill is just as easy. i dont know what people are talking about when they say theres a problem taking off. its great.
the spec clutch is cool. its either engaged or not. i love that. although, i do notice more things wrong with the car haha. i think now the passenger side motor mount is out, ive already done the driver side. or the tranny mount. only 3 miles of driving wont do be enough to let me know. also, maybe need u joints haha. seems this weekend ill spend my days driving around trying to get to 500 miles hahaa and testing it.
too bad i cant dump it and let the tires spin haha. i will soon. then ill get new tires, gears, and my mechanic had a tri ax shifter. im excited. then off to the big stuff like suspension and roll cage.

oh man i want to. but i just spent 1600 on this set up so ill try and be patient and not do it. not till its broke in. i odnt wanna buy another clutch disc and pay for the install twice haha.
i will, however, dump it from a stop once i hit that 500 mile marker

well it could just need to be adjusted. try that first. do you have an adlustable quadrant and all that?if not, just grat the pedal and pull up, then slowly give it pressure down. if not, could just need to get an adjustable quadrant and that could literally save a clutch
or it could be your throwout bearing. does it make noise when you touch the clutch pedal?

then sounds like it just needs to be adjusted. where does the clutch grab? at the bottom or top of the pedal?

wow dick good to hear buddy!! i think i wanna put an aluminum flywheel in my car now lol... i think i would like it
and good call on being nice to her til you get it all broken in... try to do a lot of stop and go before you hammer on her too... that way you know your pilot is seating right and ur clutch has a decent glaze on it... i know a clutch dont "feel right" when it hasnt had an opportunity to heat up and slip just a bit, its not very smooth of an operation... but ya man sounds awesome!! i cant wait til i can do the same... but as you know lol money...

hahah for sure. money is the cause of all evil, or wait, no, the cause of worn out tires hahaha. yeah i think youd like the aluminum flywheel. it feels like a new car. when you rev it, to see how effortlessly it revs, is sweet. for the cynics out there, all the bat things ive heard are nowhere to be found. when i shift slowly, which im doing cause of the new clutch, the revs dont come near falling flat. i dont even think they are any different from before. take offs are just as easy. kinda a pain now, cause im trying not to clip the clutch to much since im takin it easy on her for a while. all the bad things ive heard are nowhere to be found, as stated before. its amazing.

near the top. when i engage the clutch for shifting i push it to the floor and let it out until it grabs and slowly take it out to be easy on it.
hey for you, if its grabbing at the top of the pedal then sounds like an adjustment issue for sure. but to clarify that its the top of the pedal, is it the very top? or is there an inch or more of softness before it grabs? if its the very top or right there, or if you dont feel any softness before it starts to disengage the clutch, then it will either need to be adjusted, or you might need to get a throwout bearing put in, or its a stretched cable. if its the throwout though, it would bake noise when you even barely touch the clutch. so id start with the other two. let me know what you find

ok. well as long as you have that soft bit on the top, and its not making noise, then your good. keep in mind our clutches, even the stock ones, have a pretty stiff clutch compared to others because we have all manual linkage. no hydraulic crap like other cars. less stuff to break

yeah like when i touch the clutch it's soft but like an inch or two down it becomes a little stiff. and ok cool man haha i thought my clutch was getting worn! only have 33,000 on her right now that would be bad
