So I just got my car dyno tuned and ended up with 268whp and 310tq. I am very happy with those numbers considering my mods only include full exhaust and a tune. Now I want that magical 300whp number and the cheapest way to reach it. I told my friend that if I had 300whp and gears I could outrun his 430whp S197 in the 1/8. He told me to go for it. (Quick history of my track times- 8.71@80mph on cheap street tires I usually hover around 9 flat)
What do I need to do to achieve this? I thought about ordering some cams and while they are being installed get the heads ported and polished a little bit.
if you PnP the heads and do the cams it will be a little pricey but you will more than excede your 300 RWHP goal. That is actually my goal as well. And i am wanting to do a set of cams once money permits me so. I think you will get a nice gains and with some sticky DR thrown in for good measure, be able to drop your times considerably.
i'm trying to answer but you're conufusing me. your sig mods are diferent than what you said and so are your hp numbers. which one is right? if you got 260hp from exhaust and tune. get long tubes, cams, cai, a tb, and you should be VERY close if not there. like he said though heads and cams will do it. just a bit more costly.
Sorry I had the car dyno'd once before on the old motor which had a handheld tuner and it made 258/292. The new numbers are 268/310. I will update the sig.
that's pretty good numbers. Most with more mods than that dyno around 250-260rwhp. Was that SAE or STD?
My 97 Saleen with an 03 Motor with stage 2 patriot heads, UDP's, H pipe, catback, CAI, TB, intake plenum put out 290rwhp SAE. i'm sure with cams and longtubes it would have been over 300rwhp.

STD 268.17/310.06. Like I said I am happy with the power it has for the mod list. I just want to have 300whp. I think With the additional 32hp I could pull 12's easy on street tires. and my car is a beast out of the hole but from a high roll it is a little on the weak side. So you think if I just went with Cams and didn't get heads I could hit the magical number?

What are your SAE numbers? STD numbers are typically a bit higher. I thought your numbers were a bit high until you posted that they were STD. That's why people are kind of freaking out about your numbers being so high.
As far as getting 300rwhp, the rest of the standard bolt ons and cams will get you there, more than likely. You can make 300rwhp without taking the heads off if you pick the right parts.
12's on street tires might be a little hard. If you get some MT DR's or something equivalent, then high 12's for sure.
Things would factor in with STD to SAE but usually when you go from STD to SAE, it's around 10-15rwhp less. I don't think no one is freaking out, just thought it was STD or a super strong motor.
