So I am looking at buying a GT or a regular Coupe. And it would be my First Mustang that I have owned. I found one online and It is a 1999 GT priced at 5900 thru a dealer. They told me it has a newer interceptor v8 4.6l swapped into to it that they put in the car. They "say" it only has 78k miles. But according to the vin Check it was in a accident, some type of collision. But as far as i can see it looks good I have yet to drive it. I was wondering what anyone thinks about this. Oh! and it said last mileage check was 118k. being as its 10 yrs old they can turn the odometer back. So if there is anything specific that I can spot and know if its the stock engine or a interceptor engine I would like to know it would be helpful. Anyway names Ryan, Whats good? The sooner the reply the better please help me out

how is it because a cars 10 years old they can turn the odometer back in michigan you cant do that at all thats just miss leading i dont think you can turn it back on that new of a car

Look it up they can Turn the odometer back on any car that is 10yrs or older. I just read about it while i was doing all kinds of research

not in michigan you cant as stated earlier thats elegal that why they title has a box to check if its actual millage and if you check it and they find out its not your in trouble

It's illegal to tamper with the odometer anywhere.

I live in Florida, And whether it is legal or illegal it doesn't matter they don't have to report it or anything and people can do it. >.<

theres not a spot on the title that says actual millage because if there is and you check it and they find out its not actual than you get in trouble just saying

Anyway! My question wasn't about that So I am thinking the Car today!. Only thing is They replaced it's stock engine with a 2001 Interceptor 4.6L V8 engine. Is this Common>!??? and!!! Is it common for the Service Engine Light to appear due to the engine being the non stock engine and having a Error Code. Plssss I am going off to college and I don't want to get jibbed here.

well its ur call but i would run from it sounds like u r buying somebodys problems find one as close to stock as possable and in as good condition as ur wallet allows cuz car people that have f*cked up cars dont always tell the whole story behind the car and u will only find out when u start taking it apart like i did with my gt i live in CT and u must report any accedent but if i look up my carfax my car has never been in an accedent but i can deff tell u it was rearended not real bad but it was so if it seems fishy it is

yeah I'm being cautious about it I am going to have a mechanic That I trust do a check on it's hoses and plugs and engine codes and everything else. And let me know if it's just an oxygen sensor or something major. I mean Oxy sensors are expensive for me so if it is needing replaced i won't touch it. Mostly I'm trying to find something Reliable and Fun, but more so reliable than anything else. but thanks.

P.S. the joys of buying a used car with only like 5800 bucks and college around the corner...lol

dang lol. Do you know anything about the Interceptor engines? all i really kno is it has 235hp compared to the 260hp mustang engine. so I mean its still got good kick to it and I don't want anything i can kill myself with, much less get into trouble with. But idk reliability wise, or the differences. something about PI heads??

im not really the best to ask about the Interceptor engines but about getting into trouble ur just guna have to manup and know whats the right thing to do dosent take much to get yourself killed just one wrong move could end it but really just keep ur foot out of the kichen till u know what ur doin i dont know how Dispirit u r for a car but i would keep looking and avoid the one with the Interceptor for now
